Default DO oil catch cans help with oil consumption?

I have done some searching and found a few things. But what I really want to know is what the thread states. I am going to be putting one on, I just want ot know if it helps. After having my utec tuned, I noticed the cosumption to be a little higher. MY other ? is do cheap ones on ebay work as well as the name brand ones?

No, they keep your engine from re-ingesting oil-saturated blow-by gases. In theory, they reduce sludge build-up in your intake and turbo. They only way they could reduce oil consumption is if you poured the catch can slop back into the engine.

As for your second question, it seems to me that a cheap can would work just was well as an expensive one; they're not complicated devices.

Somewhere I saw a great DIY version of a catch can that looked very clean and was built very cheaply. Might want to consider it, I will keep looking around for the link I saw it on.
