Default Wrenches needed?

What wrenches and/or bits do I need to remove the transmission and rear diff drain bolts on a 2013 WRX?

I read I need the T70 for the transmission drain bolt on any year 04+ and just wanted to confirm that.
But the bolts on the rear diff looked like they need some sort of square bit? Am I imagining things?

The rear diff is just a 1/2 inch drive. You can stick a breaker bar in there.

Yes, T70 for tranny. You can pick one up at Auto Zone for like $3. 1/2" breaker bar or ratchet does both fill and drain for the diff. (remember to open the fill first......just in case)

Its actually not a 1/2" drive. A 1/2" Square Drive, such as a breaker bar or socket, works "okay", but Ive seen many strip out their plugs doing so.

Really?

Never had a problem and have been using ratchets and breaker bars forever.

Then again, I'm of the school that "special tools" are for people who can't innovate. I made my own T70 out of a chisel and cutoff wheel because I'm too impatient to go find one. Works great.

I'll have to put a pic on instagram tonight of that piece of work.....

Yeah, its 13mm square drive.

Harbor Freight has metric square drive kits now, and UltimateToolCo has them here on NASIOC. http://ultimatetoolco.com/13mm

Now, most of my cars Ive used a 1/2" square drive anyway without issue. But I have seen first hand plugs get mangled with a 1/2" square drive.
