Aftermarket Timing Belts
I don't have to do it yet, but I have been thinking about getting my next Timing Belt for my car. Is there any recommendations on what Timing Belt to get? I know I want to start modding my car for more power, but how strong is the OEM Timing Belt?
I have seen the P.E. Super Strong Timing Belt & the Greddy Extreme Timing Belt. Any opinions on these or others? Pro's and Con's for these are appreciated. What are the positive's and negative's about switching to an Aftermarket Timing Belt? Tim '03 WRX Sedan WRB

Stick with the OEM timing belt unless you've extesively modified the engine. The OEM belt is good for 105,000 miles. Several "high performance" belt suppliers recomend changing at 60,000 miles and they can wear the sprockets considerably faster.

80% of the timing belt jobs done at the shop i work at are aftermarket. You would be suprised how many aftermarket belts are made by the same company's same name brand, they just don't have Subaru,Nissan,Toyota, etc.stamped on them. Some aftermarket belts don't have timing marks on the belt so you got too go by the marks on the gears, engine.Marks on the belt will line up with the marks on your gears making sure that it is in time on not a tooth off.
