I will betray MAIC and join the darkside of NESIC
CN: i am going to school in nesic hopefully in march otherwise sept.
So my friend (Mr.Mark) and i go up to Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island for orientation. drove up getting a little frisky on the accelerator, made it in 7 hours. (incl traffic through new york). Hung out with friends, went to the 5 level mall and enjoyed the sights/sounds of providence. The city reminds me of Ottowa Canada and gave mark and i a very nostalgic fealing. The faculty was very very helpful at the orientation, however their admissions computers were down so i didnt have a decision notice. They asked that i fill out an application in person and having my college transcript handy, they looked over it and basically said: "Our last trimester begins in March, otherwise you can start the new school year in Sept; when would you want to come up" they didnt even bother looking for the highschool transcipt and SAT scores that i expadited to them. Celebrated with friends, and ate good food. but in any case, i'll be shotting to leave around march, but i'll be back for the summer. worse comes to worse if i leave in sept, i'll have more money in hand. great things about the school is the backwards curriculum which lets you start taking major related classes from the start, no weeding around through prerequisits. and you only go to school 4 days a week. all public transport is free for students. and all credits recieved while getting an associates will roll over into your bachelors. bust best of all, they have Tim Hortons up there Tim Horton's > dunkin donuts x10 Most places pay 1.5x on sundays in that area and everything is within walking distance. the closest bar is not more than a block away, few clubs to hang out at. and a ginormous mall. There are a LOT of females there too but in any case the people there have less stress hanging over there head and it doesnt seem to be as "busy" as the fairfax region. just an hours drive from boston, an hour and half to new york (or go by train) i cant wait. i'm scrapping all projects for my car except for the front control arms and brakes. But i will just do enough to maintain the car, and play harder when i graduate. ok bye

Rhode Island? People actually move to Rhode Island? NESIC actually claims Rhode Island?
Wow, I learn something new everyday. Good luck up there. I miss the Northeast more and more when I visit. It's only a matter of time before I go back |

I'm guessing you're going up there to learn how to become a chef? I hope you know what you're getting into. You will never have time for your car or installs. 70+ hours per week of work...doesn't sound fun!

I want to see Providence so bad, I went through (over?) it on I-95 on my way to Boston last year, and the next time I go for a road trip to Boston (I'm turning 21 this month.. so it won't be long) I definately want to spend atleast a day to check out Providence.
I'm sorry guys, but NESIC > MAIC, I love taking trips up there. |

yea providence is nice as a student oriented city.
there are 4 colleges nearby but it isnt as hectic of an area as say, tysons. all the buildings are all old town alexandria/georgetownesque havent ventured into farther parts of the city, but everything near the mall, bars, clubs and dorms seem nice |

ahhh, phew! Not that we wouldn't want you to come back to cook our NOVA meet food every week. Yeah, just didn't want you to go into a profession that wouldn't allow you to enjoy your passion for cars. Best of luck to you and Mr. Mark. We'll miss you guys while you're away. |

You'll love Providence. One of my very good friends that I've known since 1st grade (umm, 16 years ago?) is graduating from Bryant and he has loved being in the area. I myself just made the transit from NH down here to VA. Dam Coast Guard. 3 more years until I can return to my homeland. While MAIC has been very good to me in the past couple months, I just find anything south of MA very odd. Although, I would have to say after living in a few places over the past couple years that the DC area is probably the next best behind New England.
You're A New Englander If ... -If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights each year because Mt. Washington is the coldest spot in the nation, and Boston gets more snow than any other major city in the US, you live in New England. -"Vacation" means going anywhere south of New York City for the weekend. You measure distance in hours. -You have switched from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day, and back again. -You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching. -You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction. -You find 10 degrees "a little chilly." Just a few of my favorites. Enjoy the Northeast buddy. Make sure you are Semper Paratus for snow. |
