I am disappointed on just about every level. The 05+ Legacy looks amazing. I was really hoping that the 08 Impreza would look equally amazing and it just doesn't. In fact, it looks just like 3/4 of the other cars on the road today. How could they get the Legacy so right and this so wrong? WTF!

As for performance, it looks like the new WRX will use the same oddball VF40 style flanges and Legacy style inter cooler. I would imagine that this will mean very good things for current gen Legacy owners who complain about the lack of performance part options. On the other hand, it will be a good while until theres an ample parts selection for the new Impreza.

In that case, if this is truly the real thing, it's upsetting they did away with the fender flares. They were always a nice little touch on such an ugly betty. Regardless, it's not bad and probably can be made to look pretty damn good, which was always the best part about the WRX in the first place.
Ditto on the absent fender flares.

This is an issue for me as well but I suspect there will be a solution offered eg crossbars that fit into recessed slots like the Tribeca.

As for looks, I still think the bugeye wagon is the best!

and for the people saying the lancers look better... Wait till you see them in person.. I say they're equal to this but way bigger which for me is bad. I hate big cars, especially lancers with tiny wheel wells

Heh I've owned both a bugeye and an 06 WRX and was sorta anticipating the 08 redesign. It's not a great looking car, just like the previous models, but it's not hideous enough to keep it from selling. The EVO X is not a good looking car either. I'm not sure why Subaru can't just build a car with clean lines that looks agressive...

Looking at the pics again, I actually like the side profile a lot. The grill, no, the rear taillights, no. Other than that's not bad.

I like it all except for the grill and the rear tail lights. The grill is just...too busy. I just want black honeycomb with the plieades in the middle. Also LED taillamps are cool, but god quit it with the chrome Subaru!

LOL at the rear picture. They should take out the Subaru badge on the rear and put on a Ford. Would probably be the next Focus.

subaru is turning into a mainstreme car. going away from enthusiests in favor for more main stream buyers. too bad, there are so many other main streme cars out there that most people would buy rather than a subaru

I was really interested in the MS3 until final specs were released (don't like high hp FWD cars). However, there seemed to be a TON of interest on all the mazda forums for an AWD MS3. Maybe Subaru do well with the only mass produced US hatchback. (as long as the masses can get past the "interesting" rear and sparse interior)

It does not look bad at all, its stock and what stock looking wrx ever looked good? They don't start looking good till people lower them and put wheels on them and start adding little things here and there. Its pretty good for a start and when they actually come out and people start modding them I think it has alot of potential, but like others here have said, everyone will hate it for a few months than half or more of the people will change their minds as it grows on them. I used to hate the 04-05s, thought they looked to plain, than i bought one and I think they are better looking than the bugeyes, than i used to hate the 06-07s and when i saw a few at the track with suspension and tires i thought they looked awesome. So in time people will get used to this style. The tailights are pretty bad, but that can be fixed just like the 06-07 tails and other than that its not a bad stock looking car. I think someone should put stock photos of all the model wrxs next to one another and compare them, we are so used to seeing modded wrxs that this just looks plain to us, but even the older models in stock form were very boring.
