Question What to do with used oil filters?

Yes, I recycle my motor oil, and always have. But now I see a lot of 'reminders' to recycle the oil filter, also. Do service stations accept the used filters?
What are they recycled for? Whatever remaining oil is inside? The steel can?

most service stations will accept the used filters along with your oil.

The same place that takes your used oil will take your used filters. Whatever oil remains inside is extracted and recycled and the filter itself is shredded and the metal is recycled.
