If I were to only get something like Tein S Techs instead would you have a suggestion as to what tire size would be better to fill in the wheel gap? I don't mind meaty tires.

The rings are not the issue. they fit thats all good. forget about the hub bore.
I just want to know what is a good tire size for a subaru lowered on s techs for that rim size. If anyone has a suggestion since my 225/40/18 are too stretched/would look funny |

17X9 +45 rpf1 myth buster..
A lot of people say with the flat face rpf1 on a +45 offset 9 inches wide you will barely have any brake clearance. I purchased some anyway, hoping to get away with some 3 mm spacers.
I drive a 9-2x aero with a wilwood 4 pot bbk. My rpf1's came in the mail today and I'd like to say I had plenty of clearance WITHOUT a spacer. The wilwoods stick out a half inch from the wheel mating surface of the hat. Pics: For those interested tires are nexen n7000 235/40's Last edited by swede_ish; 05-20-2013 at 09:20 PM. |

Looks great.
And I think most of the brake clearance issues are with OEM type Brembos, which I'm pretty sure take up a lot more space then your sexy Wildwood kit. |

Well from what I've read a lot of people claim this size and offset barely clear stock wrx brakes (2-pots not 4's)

Ok I have read this whole thread but was wondering if I could put 18x8 with a 40 mm offset on my 2005 subaru sti. It is also on H&R lowering springs. If so what tires could i use. Any help would be great

If you want to run 17x9 I'd highly suggest a +42 fitment, or a 45 with a 3mm spacer. That will make you flush in the rear, the front however will poke, slightly. But that can be cured with sedan fenders. I'd run a 245 or 235 40 17 on those

shopping spree
Would anyone like to help me splurge? I have a $4k-$5k budget. I own a 2008 WRX Sedan and would like to upgrade wheels, coilovers, rotors, brakes. I am currently rocking stock all around. Stock wheels are in good shape and wouldnt mind keeping on the car. New rubber is extremely necessary.. Dimensions for stock wheels are 17" x 7", 5 Lug, 100mm Bolt Pattern, 55mm Offset.
If anyone wants to help, email me @ [email protected] I figure this may save me time from having to navigate this massive forum site. |

Hey guys def a rookie to all all of this so pardon if this is a dumb question...I'm looking to put some 3sdm .01 on my 05 legacy wagon 2.5 gt ..the guy I was going to buy them from said The Legacy is listed to use a ET35 offset but on an 8J rim. These are 8.5J so they may catch on the arches..does anybody know if this is the case? And if it is what will I have to do to make it work? And I have tried to research I'm just not really up on the lingo so i don't understand much..another question is if it does catch the arches why?? (Just for my understanding) thanks

You're information on stock legacy wheel specs is still wrong. Take a ruler and go do some measuring. |

His point was that the information you were given about stock Legacy wheels was wrong.
All the recent ones have a ET55 offset. Not ET35. And I'm not sure about the newest generation, but the 05-08 Legacy's ran a 17x7, not a 17x8. So, it makes it hard to give you any advice as the information you have is incorrect. It sounds like you are looking to put a 8.5" wide wheel (unkown diameter) with a +35mm offset on a '05 Legacy. My understanding is that is a somewhat aggressive fitment and would likely need some fender work depending on tire size, ride height, etc... |

Hey guys, just purchased some 225/45/17 size tires for my 08 wrx hatch (this is stock size for 09-10). The reason I went with the wider stock size is because I'd like to pick up some 17x8 or possibly 17x8.5 wheels. My question is what sort of offset is needed to get a wheel of that size to fit?

If you have an 08 I would get an 8.5 wide at least with 45 offset minimum but that's just me.. |

Probably anywhere from +55 - +40 wouldn't require fender work.

Yea. After searching through 100 pages I found my answer, assuming this is correct. I don't just want a good fit, I also want a stock appearance. I was concerned that stock is 53 but most of tire rick's 17 x 8 rims are 45 or 48.
