parking brake = 2wd?
According to the thread on this if you pull your parking brake on it disbales the power to th efront wheels? sounds unlikely to me...

think you got that backwards aaron
i thought if you kicked the dccd to the rear and clicked the ebrake up one notch you disengage the front diff |

actually if you pull the e brake up up just enough for the light to turn on the dccd controller will see that and put most of the power to the rear wheels, feature was put there for rally but i dont think all years have it

That is AWD donuts for sure. a 2wd car will not turn donuts that fast or that tight. There is no way. What made you think that was RWD donuts? |

pulling up on the Ebrake handle in the STI disengages the DCCD, not the front or rear diff. On the 04-05 STI this makes the center diff behave like an open differential since it lacks the ability to lock without the DCCD active. The 06+ STI has a different DCCD with a mechanical limited slip center diff (clutch based I think), it behaves differently compared to older STIs.

If you put the DCCD in "open" it will do the same thing. On the 04-05 STi you can fully open the center diff, 06+ has a mechanical limited slip so the center diff won't ever be fully open. It does not make it RWD or FWD it just opens the diff. That means whichever has the least traction (front or rear) will get all of the power.
EDIT: supermarkus beat me to it. He is exactly right. |

so you should be able to wire in a switch to ground for the ebrake wire to activate that, shouldn't you?
