saw a minivan facing the other way on the turnpike yesterday evening. couldn't see too clearly in my rear view, but it then did a 5 point u-turn with fast approaching traffic...

I was doing doughnuts and drifting for an hour last night, great fun, almost got the hang of drifting an awd. No Gymkhana material but not bad for an na car.

Wish i could find a bigger empty parking lot though.

I went to check out my usual parking lot/playground. They roped of the un-plowed area. I guess they caught on to me. Bastards. Now I need to find a new playground. Any suggestions?

I was out yesterday in the snow down the strip. I'm trying to go out and play in the snow with my kids today.

I'm only in Pittsburgh visiting family for about a week.

Yep that's me. I brought my Focus ST with me home. If I knew there was going to be this much snow while I was here I would have brought my Subaru.

I got stuck in my driveway today, backing out. My driveway has a slight downward slope going to the road. There is an elevated portion of the road which covers a drainage pipe and i usually rest my rear wheel against it while checking for traffic backing out. Even with snow tires, my POS couldnt get traction to get over the bump, and i had to get pushed...so sad. Probably 4" of snow in the driveway; if that. Right after I turned down buying an STI!

Do ya think dumping $2k into an LSD (labor + parts) for this RSX (105k miles) is worth it? Moore got me a quote for the labor of the install from McB and Im highly considering it after the next bit of money comes in... The alternative is taking out a friggin larger loan for an impreza of some sort because im sick of this lack of traction.

As a reference, my wife's forester on 50% tread factory all-seasons obviously easily got out of the driveway, regardless how much snow.

pick up a JDM trans for 1500+150 ship and after you sell your trans for 600-700, save on labor and downtime?

Well that would only net me the stock helical LSD. I Was going to get a quaife or Wavetrac. Not to mention the uninstall of the old trans/install new one would cost the same labor, no?

The advantage to your idea is of course that I could get a lower mileage transmission, but 140 ft-lb of torque that this car has does not really load the drivetrain...

The downtime's not the issue so much as dumping money into this car. Basically I am sealing myself into keeping it if I LSD it, which means no subies for years to come!

i was offering that as it makes it a quick RnR of trans, not a take the whole trans apart in the middle. which is a lot more labor than just in and out. and to fanboiz the JDM trans as a whole basically adds half it's cost to your resale value, and doesn't "lock you in"

I see. Thats true, probably half the time in labor, free LSD, sort of - and at least it doesnt lower the value. I just wouldnt tell a lay-person (dealership, craigslister) if I sold them the car about the different transmission because they likely wouldnt like that. Or maybe they would.

What I mean by lock-in is that I would be sinking alot of money into a car, alot of which i wouldnt get back, so I would be compelled to keep it. Which isnt a bad thing, Im just sick of my single open diff. Note how I didnt say I have no diff

16s off my fxt are up for sale for anyone looking. Tires are 215/60 so probably too big for imprezas wheels themselves are good condition

Hey, who wrecked their WRB STi into the fence on Brodhead Rd. in Hopewell yesterday afternoon? We waved to one another when I drove past you going down into Aliquippa to AutoZone. Then I saw you in the fence when I turned onto my street on my way home. The roads were crap and I almost lost it earlier where you did. The car damage didn't look too bad.

Anyone have a stock or aftermarket downpipe they want to get rid of? Went to fix an exhaust leak at the donut on my WRX and it turns out the welds failed on the little section of pipe just after the last cat on the downpipe. Thanks!

Anyone have any solutions for a brighter reverse light? 921 bulbs in the 08+

Stock are ****ty as hell and smoke overlays don't help. Seen some talk about CREE LED bulbs but seem to put out a beam more than spreading the light..

Install low profile driving lights under your rear bumper. Add a relay circuit to your reverse light to activate. Many people already do this with trailer hitches. You could possibly just install Brighter lights behind the existing lenses like law enforcement vehicles with some modifications.

My mistake, they're 7440 bulbs back there not the 921

I don't wanna add and other lights back there. just a little brighter bulbs would be nice.
Only thing I see is this:

only thing i see is you tinted that **** and it took you a real long time to figure out it's not cool.

you know what's cooler than tinted lights though? tinted light covers with holes in them!

but really, try that.

it's not like your sedan has the nopi hatch lights.

thanks Nick! i don't have a secret decoder ring. yet.
