Why don't they just color it military green and put a turret on it, the car is the size of a tank, it might as well become one. This from a longtime GM guy, they seem to have abandoned some of us. I loved my GTO(and the best GM interior ever), was there a reason in building a Camaro into a transformer car, and making it so big?!?!

Sounds like every other V8. 360p doesn't help either.

I think it looks good for what it is. It's a American muscle car, it's gotta have a big bold look. There are small cars, medium cars, and large cars to choose from. Why try to make it into another sports car.

I wish car companies would get rid of the retro look. They were cool in the day, but they're played out now.

That's... disingenuous as hell. I think the 5th gen Camaro's styling is one of the better pulled off retro designs out there (I like it), but it is retro. And I agree with blubaru that the time has come to explore more contemporary styling, and hopefully, less weight.

GM took some design elements from the 1st gen Camaros, did you expect them to clone the your '69 for todays market? My wife had a '68, as much as enjoy the shape of the car, the damn thing stops like an 18 wheeler, the body flexes like a rubber band, and interior design left you sliding in your seat. For 1960s tech it did OK.
To call the current car a "turd" given the current crop of choices isn't realistic. The safety mandates, crush zones, and market conditions dictate, to an extent, the size and weight of the vehicle to meet a price point. At least GM went to Holden to design an adequate suspension, Brembo for brakes, and Tremec for a tranny, Chevy's never had a problem building a pushrod V8. We would all like a 2400lb, 450hp V8, RWD, two door for $20K, unfortunately you'll have to build your own in your shed. |
