Default When should you do trim shine with full detail?

Just wondering when you guys use the trim shine/conditioner when doing a full detail. What do you use and how do you put it on? This part has always given me problems especially when I use spray trim shines. Thanks

It really depends on the trim piece. Personally, I choose to use an LSP (last step product) that I would use on paint as well (i.e. wax/sealants). I will typically use Klasse AIO or Zaino AIO when a little cleaning ability is needed and a non-staining LSP most other times. Not all trim is alike so it really depends on the texture/finish whether or not I will choose to use a dressing or a sealant/wax. When I do use a dressing, I apply it to an applicator first and then to the trim. Depending on the product, I will then wipe it down with a dry or lightly moistened cloth to ensure it is spread evenly and to help remove any excess. ***8230;.I'll then use a QD to clean any areas of paint where the product may have smeared and an IPA solution if there is any on the glass.

So you can use Klasse AIO on the black faded parts of the mirrors to make them shine again?

….again, it really depends on the texture, condition and characteristics of the trim itself. For instance, the rails on the top of my wife’s Forester are a matte black, paint-like finish. I usually use something like Opti-Seal on those as well as the pillar and window trim. However, the rails do tend to fade/discolor (on the ends moreso than the middle piece) and KAIO seems to do a decent job bringing back the finish. However, I’m careful not to over apply and/or buff for fear of losing too much of the matte-like appearance. ZAIO is more abrasive than KAIO and works for other areas where I’m able to get a little more aggressive. You simply need to get a feel for what each product does and the results they provide. Every situation can be a little different. If the trim is brand new or in good condition, I’d rather use an LSP to help keep it protected than a dressing/protectant. LSPs are less messy, easier to apply and tend to last longer. Either way, I would say the best solution is what works for you.

Mother's Back to Black for all your faded black trim. It'll de-oxidize and recondition the plastic. A few applications over a couple days should do the job.

Black Wow is pretty hardcore stuff (hardcore I mean best you can buy). At $25 for 4oz, it's the most expensive product per volume I have in my arsenal, granted you only use a pea size for a large section. I think most people here would be satisfied by an OTC product like Back to Black, unless their trim is ultra faded/neglected.

a bottle of black wow should last you about 125 years

the term a little goes a long way was invented for black wow. a pea sized amount is usually too much unless im doing something like a chevy avalanche my only gripe with it is its hard to get a uniform finish on bigger panels BUT i dont use it for stuff like that anyways. its meant for smaller things like the bumper nubs on a porsche rear bumper or mirrors etc.

Where can you get Black Wow? My friend has an older S4 with a lot of "euro" style trim and its pretty faded. Back to Black helped but it still needs something a little stronger..

^^yup, they also have a newer product called 'pre-wow', which is used like leather cleaner would be used before leather conditioner
