Dana must be hard as a rock he finally had a perfect show on Fox. Machida deserves it. He's the only one who has even made a dent against Jones. Hendo has no chance. Machida Jones 2 it is.

While Shogun went into championship rounds in a real brawl. No doubt Shogun is more deserving. |

I don't have strong feelings either way on this. I forsure don't disagree with you. It has been seen that Jones doesn't like getting hit. If Hendo can find the range and land his right I think it will make a tough night for Jones. But Jones is also a smart fighter, and should keep moving, use his range and circle to the left. We will see what happens. I would like to see Hendo be the one to knock Jones down a peg.

Last night was a phenomenal evening of fights! Top to bottom, stacked card marred only by the Prado v Davis fight's unexpected early conclusion due to the eye poke/scratch.
Really makes the recent PPVs look terrible, but also makes me quite excited for the upcoming fights... I pray Benson Henderson brutally finishes Frankie Edgar. I am sick and tired of his style and I am sick of having to watch him in title fights. For me, and yes this is a bit extreme, he's the standing version of Jon Fitch. If Hendo knocks you, you don't go down a peg, you wake up asking "what happened?" I really want to see Hendo crush JBJ because the MMA journalists aren't giving him a fair shake and it's like the whole industry is looking past Hendo when 1 H-bomb could derail the JBJ hype train faster than 2 white bitches, a Bentley, and a blood alcohol content of .08+. edit - forgot to add: I'm glad Machida gets a crack at Jones over Shogun. Shogun has not looked as aggressive in the UFC as he did in Pride and while I really like Shogun, I don't think he has anything for Jones. Meanwhile, I feel like Machida is wholly deserving of another opportunity with Jones. The UFC needs more time to develop contenders for Jones if he doesn't attempt to go for a title in another weight class, and Machida buys them that time and has built in legitimacy as a contender since he is the only man to ever "win a round" over Jones. Ultimately, I just hope it's Hendo vs Machida instead of Bones vs. Machida. |

So my first MMA event in person certainly didn't disappoint.
Right from the get go it was an awesome night. The undercard fights were superb. Yeah, the Davis eye poke was a bummer, but it happens. A rematch for those 2 will be on the cards pretty soon. The heavyweight fight between the 2 Brits was a little meh to me. There was a good amount of boos coming from the crowd - although the row behind me had about 25 "De Fries Supporters club" members in it, so they were going bananas. Apologies for the failure in the next part :- The chicks in his supporters club were wearing the shortest, tightest little black dresses. When I turned my head I was definitely getting the furry wink! Failure in that I got no pics!! One chick had the deepest transsexual voice I've ever heard. She yelled like a vuvuzela, yakked on about absolute bollocks all night and sounded like she smokes 40 a day. I expected a 50yr old hag but turned around to see a smoking hottie, wearing one of these super tight black dresses. Damn she looked good, but sounded like Janice from "Friends" with one of those electrolarynx machines! Close decision in the Phan/Miller fight. Definitely could have gone either way. Great fight too. Varner looked pretty good but gassed a little. I was so happy that Joe finished him though. And as someone else said - Holy Swick. I was nervous that the time out of the ring was going to hinder him but he looked good. Glad to see him back and healthy. Not sure if they showed it on the broadcast but the brought a backboard out for Damarques that gave me a little pause and concern, but he got up finally. The Machida knockout - looking at the replays that really could have gone either way. It looked like both guys hit each other but Lyoto's had more impact. He is my wife's fave fighter so she was screaming and hopping up and down like a kid that just got a bike for Xmas! Another tough slugfest for Shogun, but man he gassed quick. I don't know what his deal is but his cardio is such a hindrance. Whether he is always looking for the explosive early finish so doesn't have the stamina for the later rounds, I don't know. He was throwing singles while Vera was doing combo's. Vera looked good, maybe a little intimidated at the start, but has heart for days. Overall it was a fantastic card for out first live event. Next time I probably would pay more for the seats - my snobby ass was in the cheap seats with the "lowest common denominators" as my wife put it. The unoriginal drunk comments coming from behind were idiotic. I'll pay more money and sit with the middle class folks next time - like a boss! (Well, like middle management at least!) |

I still think it's pathetic how Edgar was able to cry his way into a rematch given he clearly lost the fight.

He didn't get it because he cried. He got it because he had to give 2 rematches when he was champ.
