If I needed a smallish truck, I'd buy the Equator. Nissan goodness with Suzuki's longer warranty = win
As much as I adore the RX-8, I wouldn't buy one. My NB Miata is a better sports car and there's a lot less to go wrong with it. Wouldn't buy a Cayman over the Boxster, either. If you're buying a limited-use sports car, it might as well have the droptop. The SX4 is a great little car -- lots of fun to chuck around and the build quality is excellent for the $$$. Too bad Suzuki has no advertising budget. |

Maybe Porsche will finally price the coupe for less than the friggin convertible like every other coupe/convertible pair in history. Thieves. Too bad because of course they recognize it is better as a coupe.
The article is poorly worded too. It is not their most powerful engine in the R, although if they're trying to say it will have the most powerful engine ever in a Cayman they could, but at +10 hp, it's a joke. If it were their most powerful NA engine that would be the ~420 hp mill from the 911 GT3. That would be sweet! |

Yeah, the Cayman pricing is really one of the most obvious rip offs in the industry. Whatever the market will bear at its finest. Except now the novelty has worn of, and it's not selling. Good, I hope that makes them price it below the Boxster as they damn well should.

I've never even heard of the Equator.
The Smart never made sense to me. It costs as much as a bigger economy car like a Fit and doesn't get any better mileage. What's the point? I think Government Motors and Chrysler/Fiat are going to get a shock when they find out that: --most people don't want to buy really small cars --people that do want small cars prefer asian imports |

Well, the point might be that it carries less people than the Fit which is very practical, since no one would want to ride in it.

I'd be more interested in seeing such a list weighted by unsold inventory. Here we go: http://www.newcars.com/news/days-on-lot

It makes sense in european cities that are extremely congested and have little to no room for parking. That's where it shines. Otherwise it makes no sense anywhere else.

Days on the lot has a lot to do with production targets, inventory control, and oversupply.

The Smart makes sense if you live in a large city with limited parking (Seattle, NYC, Chicago etc....) The mileage would have been great if Penske had 2 brain cells to rub together, instead they brought over the gasser instead of the oil burner. For the last part, Chrysler / Fiat are in a great position as long as they market the 500 properly (AKA Mini) Market it as an upscale / sporty alternative to the Asian imports and price it close enough to make sense (but still at a slight premium with standard equipment) |

The Mini has no other competition and is getting rather long in the tooth. I think the 500 could step in and grab many buyers from Mini showrooms.

In defense of small cars, I wish we had more manly roadsters ala the '50's and '60's. I mean really tiny, like the Jaguars, Maserati's and Ferrari's that weighed 2000 lbs or less. Of course in modern form they would weigh at least as much as a Miata, but as Emeril says, BAM! Let's have some cool cars that don't weigh 4000 pounds please.

How do you expect that to ever change if they don't start challenging the status quo? Or are you suggesting they just give up and go back to building all SUVs?

I put a few Mustang 2011 GTs on watch list on Ebay in early DEC. They are all still being offered. Those lists don't tell the whole story.

The only reason I can think why the Equator isn't selling is advertising. It's the Nissan Frontier, but looks a little better IMO.
Plus you'll save a couple grand and get a longer warranty. |

scion xD
they could have better sales if they came out with some special editions... Scion XD <3 edition. Scion XD BBQ edition. stuff like that... Obviously, once the XD has completely run its course, they should come out with another emoticon model to replace it. I would totally buy a Scion colon dash p XD XD XD |
