Definetly will need the EGT. The fuel pressure is probably a good idea, at the very minimum get the $15 inline guage you can put under the hood. (You can get them at summit racing.) The A/F guage isn't useless, its just not 100% accurate. It will help to see if you are rich or lean, it won't give you exact numbers like a wideband will, but it will give you a ballpark idea.

Also, I'm not sure about the WRX piping setup, but won't you need the WRX headers too?

Greg, my advice is this: if you are going to stick with the Cartech RRFPR for over 6 months, then get fuel pressure gauge in the cabin. It will be to your benefit to know how much fuel pressure you have, especially since you won't be using a J&S. If you plan on going with a Link+ soon, then I would do the $15 inline gauge. Just attach it so it sticks out of the hood scoop, at least you will be able to read it, although I know it sounds kind of cheasy (put it under the hood once you have the fuel pressure set).

EGT gauge is a must, don't shy away from one of those. Put it a few inches away from cylinder #3.

When I was running the kit with 4 psi and the Walbro pump, I had PLENTY of fuel. Going without knock protection is dangrous, but I never did hear any signs of detonation when I had the J&S/ITC installed.

A fuel pressure guage is definately important if you are running a RRFPR. The diaphragms and springs in those can go soft over time leaving you with a fuel pressure that is way off of what you thought it was. An EGT gauge is also a pretty good indicator of something going wrong. But at 4lbs you should be pretty safe. The A/F meters are actually nice insurance to have too.... at 4lbs the only knock/detonation you will be running into is either on an extremely hot day. Or running lean, it's nice to be able to see a yellow/red light come up at WOT and back off before bad things happen.

I would do the clutch before installing the turbo kit. If you dont the whole turbo kit has to be removed to install the clutch. Sounds like you are putting in a new crossmember anyway, so you might as well do it while the engine is out. You'll need it anyway

Excuse me for sounding like a noob but I'm a little confused...
Are you using stock wrx uppipe and downpipes? And all you had to do was get a the WRX crossmember? If that is the case, wow! If there is more you had to do, can you let me in on what's up?

I was thinking of going the TD04L with Subachad pipes, but the possibility of running WRX aftermarket pieces is quite sexy (if it's possible).

Thanks

I think now was a good time to show these. I'm using all stock WRX pieces. You can see how everything fits, and also the tight fitting coolant lines.

Brent, are you running that motor yet? I had a ton of problems using the stock Y pipe. I eventually upgraded to the samco part and now it is just fine. I'll post my updated pics in a few minutes...

Dude, you know all too well. I'm currently looking for one for a good price. I wouldn't say that I have problems, but I know the car would run better with the other piping. Those blue pieces just connect the piping together, so you can imagine.

FJP - Is that a 2.5RS intake mani? Did you have to do anything to get the WRX top-mount to fit?

I'm looking to do something like this, also, so, any help would be appreciated.

thanks
