Ugh. I just want this thing to stop going off. Not being able to have keyless entry is kinda ghey though.

I think you can disable the alarm. I don't remember off the top of my head but I'm pretty sure it's in the manual

Wow; my car entered Valet mode unknowingly & just baffled me because I never read about it. Thanks to the TS for the info.

Hi - I lost my key fob last week, so I've just been using the key to lock and unlock the car. Yesterday my husband drove my car, and locked it with his key fob. Today, when I tried to open the door with the key, the alarm went off. I need to use the car today before husband gets home. Is there a way to disable the alarm without my key fob? Would turning the ignition 3X work in this situation? The car is a 2005 WRX. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello,
Just a quick question. I have a 2005 forester xt with aftermarket alarm. I just noticed that when I'm driving, the security light keeps on flashing like I'm in valet mode. When I lift the handbrake up with the engine on, the car beeps a couple of times and the light goes off. When the car is parked, the security light blinks like it is in valet mode. I no longer have the stock remotes.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

anyone have issues with the battery life on the FOB?
seems after i changed the battery from whatever came stock from factory, i have to press the unlock or lock buttons repeatedly to get a response from the system.

about 6 months ago i installed a new factory keyless entry/alarm and got two FOBs included(new style with orange and blue buttons, when i bought my MY02 wrx it came with 1 fob with the grey buttons.)

so, with the battery i got from the local auto parts store compared to the spare FOB i have, it seems the battery i just replaced a few weeks ago already needs replacing.

is there a factory issue battery from subaru i should look into getting? or has anyone had better luck with a certain brand of batteries? i think i have an acdelco battery and made sure to match the number(CR2032)

any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Who Ever Is Having Trouble Disarming The Alarm Without The Key Fob You Just Have To Enter The Car As Fast As You Can (or Take Your Time If You Want Some Attention) And Put The Key In The Ignition And Turn It To The On Position (with Out Trying To Start The Car) And Turn It On And Off About Five Times And It Will Turn Off And Your Good To Go

I just took the car to get a new key and key fob on my '05 STi and those dum fux tried for about an hour to program the the key fob and I finally said, don't worry about it, I'll program it when I get home (they did successfully program a new key). When I got home, I used my Iphone to get the directions on this site and programmed the key fob in less than a minute.

Anyway, on the drive home from the stealership, my security light was blinking the whole way home (blink-blink-pause-blink-blink-pause). From this thread, that means it is in valet mode. I follow the directions found here and opened the drivers door and held the unlock button on my key fob for about 5 seconds (also tried 10 and 20 seconds) and the damn thing will not stop blinking. Is there something I missed in this thread? This is getting annoying and refuse to take the car to the dealership (I still have a warranty on the car and still wouldn't bring it in).

TIA,

The batteries are just basic watch batteries and can be purchase anywhere...I just got some for my car and a package of 2 cost less than $3 at Walmart.

Depending on how long the remote was 'dying', it may have to be reprogrammed.

Good point, one that was already mentioned, though, and not the 'proper' way to do it....

What does your remote look like? Teardrop or the older style?

This thread, as per its title ("Factory"), is for discussion of OEM Subaru keyless and security systems only. For questions about aftermarket and DIY stuff, you can post in the forum (although you should search first as many questions about the various aftermarket alarms have already been answered here).

Agreed, this should be your first step if you don't already have the manual for some reason.

Smile Installing Keyless Entry

I just bought a keyless entry system (sorry, it's not a factory OEM, but I couldn't find a thread to post aftermarket questions) My question is:

I have a '97 Impreza Outback Sport and I was wondering if it is already pre-wired for me to install the keyless entry unit? Before I remove my dash, I want to make sure I have any necessary harnessess, etc.
Or does anyone know of anywhere I can download visual instructions for installing security/keyless systems in Subarus. The manual that came with my unit is worthless.

There is no established/sticky thread for aftermarket questions since there are so many different systems and everyone has different problems. You can start a new thread, but for it to be useful you should state the make and model of the system you purchased in the subject line of the thread.
