That picture is awesome in the sense it shows how well the Subaru engineers designed the body structure. That o-ring reinforcement sure works.

so what's the story behind it?

it looks like the cabin held up very well, you wouldn't have walked away, but you would have lived. if that 2x4 didn't get a piece of you...

Setting on the DCCD is irrelevant if it were in Auto mode.

Wow, that is some screwed up crap!

I've never seen a suby so mangled before?

Well, I hope, if someone was driving that they were able to walk away.

I wonder what the story is ... I'm about to call the dealer and ask them!

judging by the pics...it looks like it may have rolled off the truck the wrong way.
if you look closely..no one had been driving it....if someone had..the jaws of like woulda definatly have to cut the at least one of the doors open..and none of them have teeth marks..or marks of being damaged also..the keys could have been in the ignitian during the journey on the freight so that might have made the airbags go off.

didn't Scott buy this car?

Ask him how many miles are on it...that'll tell you if it was still on the truck.

Looks like dried blood on the air bag so I'd say there was a very very lucky driver and he probablyjust crawled out the window.

I know all about this car, I went to the dealer and a salesman told me all about it. The guy didn't even have it for 48 hours. He got drunk went straight where there was a turn at 120mph no brakes or anything, went down a steep hill, hit a tree and then a fence, one of the fence posts went into his chest. Driver Lived.

drunk drivers always survive the most amazing crashes. I think when one is hammered, they don't tense up like a sober person would when they realize they are about to inevitably crash. I think when you freeze up, your muscles get tense, and that is when things break.

Was just thinking that! It looks like the only part of the car that's salvageable!

Wouldn't take a drivetrain that'd been hit and twisted that hard.

I love that it's got a dealer ad tag on it... someone was test driving!

You think that kind of damage could come from falling off the truck? Are you kidding? The mere fact that the car has been pummelled from all sides indicates it was a high speed crash (120 according to the other post). This thing went into the crap HARD.
