Wrecked my '97 legacy gt wagon, and I have just joined the Forester world with this '99 L:
Now what? Hmm, the possibilities. I plan on making it more of an off-road vehicle than a street racer.

Oh sorry I forgot to mention I live in Canada so only the limited comes with HIDs. By doing a retrofit it adds projectors to the headlight so the lights are more "focused" and "sharp" rather than the halogen reflector housing. I don't want to add HID's into the reflector housing because that will probably just blind oncoming traffic.

I havent seen a retrofit in a newer Forester yet, but I am sure it would look amazing. I really dont want this to start a huge debate, but HID's in a reflector housing really doesnt put out that much glare. With properly adjusted headlights I have NEVER been flashed, and I have put HID's in refletor housings in 8 different vehicles. So dont let the nasioc HID nazis fill you with too much BS. Out of the 8, I have only had one that put out a bad light pattern, and those were cheap aftermarket headlights. ($60 for the pair cheap) |

Thanks matt!
Sourced a rare JDM 2-piece lip for my year, and painted all the bumpers/trim with flat black paint. |

I am using GR specific springs and they work a treat. 8 kg front and 8 kg rear. Aussie distributor here http://www.otomoto.com.au/HDSystems/hrseries.htm
Oz Ultraleggera rims in a size they dont even sell to the market anymore here in Australia. Very rare rims. |

Here are some pix of mine, freshly tinted and sporting a STI exhaust. Just waiting to mount a set of 18" OZ Ultrasleggeras in gold with 245/45 Yokohamas AVS ES100. Then '11 STI suspension and brakes and it'll be done.

Its hard to tell from your picture....
Did you notch your bumper for the quad tips? I have my '11 STi stock exhaust in my shed and am wanting to put it on our xt. Thanks! |

I didn't trim them I was going to but they fit without doing it. They do touch at the corners but they don't vibrate and hasn't melted the bumper so I'll just leave it. You are really lucky, with a STI sedan you have all the "hand me downs" you need for the XT... Other then looks and sound it does perform better then the stock exhaust too if you replace from the cat back and replace the restrictive center resonator with the STI free flow glasspack. Spools quicker (less lag) and when it does hit boost it takes off!

You are right about the good luck. Now I need to get coilovers and a midpipe for my STi, and throw my stockers on the XT. Thanks again! |
