Default "why do you want to sell your subie man?"

I'll tell ya why. I'm tired of every moron who is in high school, or just of of it, thinking that just because I own a wrx that I want to race them. coming back from lunch today, some moron in a bmw is behind me. I pull over to the right cause I wanna do a U turn on this side street so I can park on the other side of the street. Moron bmw guy, blows by me at probably 50 (in a 20mph marked zone), fish tails, almost hits a lady and her kid walking on the side of the road. Pulls up to the next block, turns left and parks in front of a house. Needless to say I called the cops.

More often then not lately, people have just tried racing me and crap, which I want NO part of. Yesterday coming home, some douche in a monte carlo SS takes off like a bat out of hell from the stoplight we are stopped at. I never took off fast, or anything to indicate I wanted to be as big of a douche as he. but he still felt the need to try to show me that his SS was way cooler then my WRX.

Lame. I am not a street racer. Never have been, never will be. I need to find some old geo metro or something to get these losers off my case. Fish tailing and almost hitting two people does not impress me in the least.

Maybe you need to move into a more upscale neighborhood instead.

Doesn't matter where I am. I drive all over the city for my job with the school district IT department. It happens to me all over the place. Apparently as soon as they see a WRX wagon with tint and mudflaps, they automatically assume that is my signal that I wanna race.

I know how you feel. Ever since I got my WRX, its like I put a big neon sign on my car that says 'I wanna race.' Whatever though..its something I have to deal/live with. As long as I'm happy with my car, I dont care.

Cry me a river. If you didn't want attention don't purchase a well known performance car.

That's the negative attraction that accompanies our cars--you can't bear responsibility for douche bags so why let it bother you in terms of what you're driving?

Especially if you mod your car, you know that really opens Pandora's Box. If I buy a pair of rare Jordans, I know people will comment and that's simply part of the culture.

I didn't purchase it because it was a well known performance car. I bought it because it had some get up and go, and the wagon had room for me to carry my mountain bike around.

It's a wagon for gods sake, not an STI.

I see, so what happens if I dont want attention but want a performance car because I Auto-X, Track, or Rally? This is a very poor excuse for what is happening.

To the OP, if you pick up any car that has a hint of performance to it these stooges will flock to you. This has happened to me through my last 3 cars. There is just no way around it.

I like this option, keep the car. You can't control what other people do so don't change your car because others are making you. You keep your car because you like it or you sell your car because YOU don't like it. I raced a little grandma this morning in her 1982 van cause she gave me that I want to race you look. I managed to take her but I don't think she is going to sell her car because of it.

as long as you dont race, dont worry about it.

it'd be funny if you made a documentary called "True Life: Douches try to street race my turbo charged wagon"

To the OP I know what you mean... I had an 04 STI that would get all kinds of the wrong attention, no matter what part of town I was in, and it did get really annoying. However, all you can do is ignore them thus sending the message that you do not wish to participate in any stupid street racing antics. I eventually got so annoyed and on a couple of occassions scared... I had three Mexicans/Hispanics pull up next to me in a riced out Honda one time and due to their bad driving nearly got ran off the road... Anyway, I ended up trading that 04 STI in for an 05 Legacy... however I soon missed the performance of the STI... now that I have the STI Limited, I don't seem to get the attentions, thankfully. I wish you luck, I know it can be annoying as well as dangerous, but all you can really do is set the example, and ignore the idiots and a$$hats out there.

So you're going to cry and whine because your car gets attention?? That's stupid. Who cares. I could give two ****s who notices my STi. It's all about you NOT what others do/think. You can't stop people from taking notice. I notice good looking women...I notice fat people...I notice high end cars...should I just walk around with my eyes closed so I don't offend anyone?? Enjoy your car and don't worry about other people.

Exactly. People, especially young people, know that the WRX has some balls. That is why you get attention. What I still don't get is why you care?? If another driver acts like an idiot let them.

wrx isn't really seen as a race car around here... unless it's modded. any modded car will have people pulling up next to it and revving.. what do you expect?

ADIDAS,

Why would you call the cops on the BMW driver???

You sound like a tool!!! You also sound like a stick in the mud....

I hope next time you are crying about someone trying to race you... you get aids.

I share the frusteration, but since I have seen sooooooooooo many of these threads, and read the responses, I just don't care what the guy next to me is doing. As long as I get to where I am going safely I am happy.

The best though is it must be a race since the car behind sped past you.

Maybe he was running late...just likes to drive fast...or whatever. It doesn't me he wanted to race.

Last night I was in the mood to driver faster than usual but I was stuck behind some slow ass drivers...the ones driving lower than the speed limit. FINALLY they turn and I "blow" past them....I guess I was trying to race them.

The only people in my area that try to race me, are other Subie owners.

Other than that, no one tries to race me at all.

If you dig the WRX but don't want the "racer boy" image you feel you have, then trade up and get an 08 WRX. I don't think many people will try to race you in that. That's one reason why I am thinking about getting one. So I can have a fast ass car, but still blend in to the surrounding traffic.

Reading comprehension > you. Reread the thread idiot. I don't race these tools, but they seem insistent on trying to get me to.

Maybe because this isn't the first time I have seen him driving like a douche. Maybe because he was going at least 30mph above the posted limit IN A SCHOOL ZONE. Maybe because in doing so, he nearly hit a mother and her daughter.

You apparently are very immature. Way to call names boy wonder.
