History of the Six Star Badge?
So the six star logo right now has one large prominent star on the left, and five smaller ones.
My sister-in-law got me a brass key tag with "Subaru" and a six-star logo on it and all the stars are nearly equal in size, and they are joined by lines. It's not really like the badge on the front of my lowly 2000 Impreza Brighton SportWagon at all. So I figured maybe it was sort of bootleg. But then I'm walking home last night, and in the parking lot I see an old Subaru (GL?) with a badge on its rear hatch (unusual now, actually, emblems, rather than names on the rear of a car). And that badge is more like my key tag. So I'm wondering if here, or at some other web site somewhere there is a page outlining the historical development of the Subaru six star logo as we know it today.

So why aren't the cars marketed in English markets as Pleiades?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleiade...tar_cluster%29 Hey! That says it should be seven stars. Last edited by GT2toXS; 08-18-2004 at 01:28 PM. |

I guess we're lucky they didn't choose to call them Mutsuraboshi ("six stars").
In a vaguely related note, Mitsubishi means "three diamonds". Not sure if that's only symbolic diamonds (quadrilaterals) or both those and the actual gems. One page suggested that only six of the seven stars are visible to the naked eye. Hmm. It looks like Fuji Heavy Industries is not the photographic/electronics giant (Fuji Photo Film). They're actually two quite unrelated companies? I'd always assumed they were the same, but probably I was wrong about that? Last edited by GT2toXS; 08-18-2004 at 02:21 PM. |

And while searching the web for badges, I discover that there is an "I" badge for STi cars, which suddenly explains why some of the badges on AutoArt models didn't seem to be doing a very good job of replicating the Six Star emblem.
Here's a sample, for now, at least... From http://www.eautoworks.com/productimages/I_embelm.jpg http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ord-A...em-1-15621.htm |
