If you don't install the DCCD controller, the center diff will default to a specific torque split (F/R)... For 04-05 this was 35:65, and for 06+ this was 41:59... so the 06 drivetrain will utilize the more balanced (41:59) torque split.

Can someone confirm if this is correct for a swap into a 2008 WRX:

TY856WB7KA JDM IMPREZA WRX STI MY06 + S204 - 3.9 FD
- with shift linkage, clutch slave,

A/t or modified STI driveshaft

08 WRX R160 Differential - 3.9 Gear Ratio

08 WRX axles, starter, clutch and flywheel (recently replaced, would like to use it till it's done for)

I would prefer to stay at 5x100 due to the multiple sets of wheels and current BBK setup on the vehicle.

What would have to be replaced to use the 08 WRX clutch assembly? Also, do the JDM v9 DCCDs maintain a 41:59 split without a controller, just like their USDM counterpart?

Just got done with my weekend 6 speed swap from an 06 STI into my 03 WRX wagon! It was a lot easier to get the 5 speed out, than fit the 6 speed in. It is definitely a lot tighter in there now. I really hope I am going to be able to change the clutch without pulling the transmission out when the time comes like I could with the 5 speed. I will be wiring in the DCCDPro tomorrow or Tuesday. It feels great! The ratios threw me off a little bit, and I'm still trying to get the hang of putting it in reverse instead of 6th... Thanks for the DIY!

I need help on my 04 FXTi swap. I have or had the 4AT and an STi motor in the car. I bought the whole 2004 six speed STi swap, Brembo brakes, axles, cross-members rear 180 diff ect... I plan on using my stock A/T drive-shaft I have my FXT lowered on WRX struts.

Now I have a fully built 2.5l complete long block ready to attach to the six speed. I have a 2004 Hydra ECM and a complete 2004 STi harness MPH Prodrive gauges. No DCCD but I may decide to hook it up later via Spiider DCCD pro.

My question is I need to maintain the Anti-lock brakes by using the A/T harness? Or I may be able to use certain parts of the STi harness. I am stuck on how to wire the 6speed into the car. Maybe unplug the A/T from the stock harness and plug in the M/T.

Please help If possible.. I hope

Default Help needed!

Hello, I own a 04 wrx and I just build a new 2.5L engine with cams pistons a 20g turbo and all the supporting mods. My car is not a USDM spec so I need more info in what I will need for a transmission upgrade because I think its not going to last long. My transmission code is TY754VN5AA and my VIN code is JF1GDALD34G054052. Could you give me some options to upgrade my transmission so it handles 400 awhp?

I have a question that I am having a hard time finding answers to:

I have a full GR drivetrain (tranny, hubs, knuckles, brakes axles) and would like to piece together a swap into a GD. Is there a way for the GR knuckles, axles, diff etc to mount up? What do you do for a suspension setup? Not much information out there about this (maybe my googling isn't up to snuff). I have seen Xluben use 5x100 hubs, but I have 5 sets of 5x114 wheels plus many of the parts, going the 5x114 route would be more cost effective right now.

I haven't seen or found anything about this so I figured I'd ask here. I am finishing up my V8 6-speed swap into my 02 wrx. I am using the trans, driveshaft, r180 rear with stock wrx axles up front and hybrid axles in the rear to retain my stock hubs for now. So far everything is installed except for the hybrid axles because i have to order the races for them. That said when i was putting the front axles onto the axles stubs that came with the transmission....I noticed that only the passenger side stub has a hole for the roll pin from my wrx axles.....the driver's side does not have this hole to accept a roll pin.

Is this normal.....is it safe to run with no roll pin?

Unless it clips in you don't want your axle floating back and forth on the trans spline.

good stuff man! just wanted to add that im pretty sure that these "optional" things are mandatory for 02 wagon owners who want to swap to 6 speed. dont have to be STI but they need to be sedan length not OE wagon length

I have a 02 wrx and have a 06 mt. How do you plug in the vss? The plug goes on but not enough to latch. The sti's have the plug on the chassis not a pigtail like the wrx. What gives?

Nevermind, my donor gearbox had the inner retainer from the plug stuck in the vss.

So I've read a few of these forums on here and other websites and I'm probably more confused now then when I started. I'm wanting to put a 6 speed in my 02 wrx. With the r180 diff. What confused on is it looks cheaper to do an 04 swap cause the best I can see you can use the wrx struts and spring and front axles where the 07 swap requires everything from struts to hubs to all the axles but in one thread it sounds like the 04 won't work with the r180 and the next thread says it will. Will some answer this for me and correct anything I have said that's wrong I'm likely just misreading something.

Default Clutch/speedo after swap

Two questions for anyone who's done this swap--

Does the speedo need to be recalibrated after a swap?

Does the swap solve the stiff clutch pedal problem?

I know for the clutch, a lot of that can depend on the stiffness of the springs in the pressure plate, but I've driven a few Imprezas like my 02 wagon, and they all felt as stiff as a cable clutch on a 4th gen Mustang.

Default Brand new 2017 forester stops abruptly on freeway

Hey Guys,

I have never posted here before and technically speaking as of right now I do not own a subaru. I'm hoping for some insight or some guidance.
I bought a BRAND NEW 2017 subaru forester from downtown subaru yesterday. I drove it exactly 34 km's before I began to have issues.
While merging off the HWY 401 east onto HWY 404 newmarket, I began to accelerate. I got the car up to ~80-90km/hr( I had already previously driven at this speed and had no issues).

The car decided to slam itself on the brakes. I lost all manual control of the car, my steering wheel had no play to it. It felt like all 4 tires locked up. I skid down the freeway for ~30 feet until the car finally came to a complete stop. I was almost rear ended due to this incident and subsequently almost cause a multiple car pileup on the highway.

Once the car stopped, I attempted to drive it over to the shoulder. The car WOULD NOT MOVE. The car would turn on and off with no issues. The car would go into "drive mode" and the engine would rev, however the car would not move. NOTHING, nothing what so ever. I attempted to turn the car off and back on, and the car still would not move. I turned off all eye sight options, hoping this would help. NOTHING

So here I am with a brand new car, stuck on a mega highway and I didn't know what to do. I finally towed the car back to the dealership and the service department took a look at it. As far as they could see, all my sensors were perfectly fine, which led them to believe it was a mechanical issue. Maybe the transmission.

The car was left outside the garage by the tow truck and even the mechanics couldn't figure out how they were going to get the car into the garage. It would not move.

Now, the dealer has offered to get me the exact same car, it's currently on the train from vancouver. My dilemma is. DO I EVEN WANT A SUBARU????? should i contact subaru canada. They preach at how " safe" the vehicle is, however, I do not have the same experience.

I'm really just looking to see what everyone thinks of their subaru's and what my possible next steps should be. Ultimately, this situation is completely unacceptable and I'm slightly traumatized form the entire event.

Thanks guys.
