Default Im looking at a panasonic LCD projection HDTV....questions...

So Ive tried to find this info from google and video forums but cant seem to locate any so I wanna know if anyone can let me know from experience.

Im looking at last years 720P model 52 inch Panasonic Projection LCD HDTV. Before this I was unaware that you could get a LCD tv in projection form without it being a DLP model.

I was wondering if these TV's have burn in problems? Being as its a projector I wouldnt think it would but I wanted to make sure. Im going to be using the TV in the game room with the Xbox 360, wii and PS3 so I was hoping to get this answered as I wanna pick up the TV this week.

Costco has a great price on theirs with a stand and I hope I can snag one before its sold out ~.

Anyone have any experience with these TV's? Ill get a model number if needed but I left my folder with that info at home.

i had a 60 inch 720p panasonic projection LCD, it was pretty good.

issues some have had:

whirring or whining noise after tv is shut off, there is a fan going somewhere that never shuts off.

Did you ever have any issues with burn in from stale images even on TV? A running fan wont be too bad since the game room is far from where we sleep.

First off, you've got your technologies confused. DLP and LCD are two different types of projection. One uses 3 LCD panels, the other uses a DLP chip and a color wheel.

I prefer DLP over LCD, but it's really a personal preference.

Second, DLP and LCD projection TV's are immune to "burn-in", just doesn't happen because of the technology used.

fyi:

Samsung has the majority of the market share for LCDs. They also have over 40,000 engineers under their employ doing R&D.

While others outsource their work and quality control becomes an issue, Samsung keeps their work inhouse.

I <3 Samsung LCDs.

burn in is an issue with plasma as far i know.

I prefer DLP, i think LCD pictures get kinda dark when you sit angled from the tv.

I saw it as the other way around but always thought it was how you said. I checked this screen at extreme angles and it was still very bright and the picture was clear as day.

Thanks everyone for the input. In all my looking for a new TV for the game room Ive never seen a non DLP projection so this confused me. The LCD screen seems to be about the same look as the DLP but Im assuming its not going to be using the color wheel style like DLP does and instead using the crystal display of course.

If anything goes wrong they still have a 90 day return with a 2 year warranty. 1k for a TV and stand doesnt seem like too bad an investment.

Also the panasonic next to the samsungs blew me away. Ive been looking at the 42 and 46 inch samsungs and loved the color. The panasonic was very comparable if not better. I just attributed that to the tv's not having proper adjustments though. When talking to one of their workers he said that they have set adjustments they load them to just like any other store but customers sometimes play with them.

Sony seems to have the best LCD's and plasma personally but they cant touch the DLP's of the samsungs from what I have seen. I have never been a true flat panel kind of person and have been looking at the DLP's for a while. I also have a good friend who has last years model Samsung and I think two years ago model of Sony and the picture difference is pretty big. I never took that as input though since they were from differing years and levels of technology.

When the 360 came out we went over there and moved both TV's into the same room. Playing Project Gotham Racing 3 on two 50 inch screens next to each other is amazing.
