What's my WRX worth?
Trying to figure this out. I bought my car back in April, got a really good deal on it. Previous owner took good care of it. I planned on keeping this forever, but I've started a business so I need a truck now. I know I can get more than I paid for it, but not sure what I can legitimately get out of it.
It is a 2003 WRX with 102k miles on it. MBP, 5-spd, etc. Tires are almost new, brakes are good, had all the maintenance and stuff done to it. It has been in two accidents, one when the car had like 3000 miles on it and was rearended. You can't tell though, I build cars and didn't notice until the guy told me. The other was a guy backed into the passenger side door a few months ago. I have the parts and ab going to be fixing it, and a local shop is going to do the paint work as well as take a few dings out and fix some paint imperfections on the car. The interior is nice, engine bay is spotless, I really take good care of it. I have every maintenance record, as well as the original invoice and window sticker off of the car. On top of that I have kept a logbook of my fuel mileage and repairs I have done to the car, as well as oil changes and things. The car is completely unmolested, the only things I have done to it are painted the calipers and painted the inside of the headlights and polished them. I only used this car to drive back and forth to work and drop my kids off at school. Never raced it, never tracked it. What do you think is reasonable for this?

Well, kbb is about $9600. I just wanted to see if people thought that was actually attainable. The car is pretty desirable and with the records and condition of the car, I would hope I could get that.

The car is worth what someone will pay for it, not trying to be sarcastic, more realistic. KBB is not always on point, on a 2002 car with around a 100k here's the way I would look at it: At this mileage, it's about ready for it's timing belt, has that been done? How's the clutch? When I bought my 2002 wrx 3 years ago, I paid 8200 cash, from a dealer with 106,000 and a nearly gone clutch, and I sold it 2 months ago with 150000 miles for $7,000.

Timing belt is going to be done next week. Clutch is fine on it.
I paid $8500 for it 8 months ago and felt like I got a really good deal considering the prices of the other cars. The car is in better shape now then when I bought it (thorough cleaning, fixing of the paint issues, etc) so I would hope to at least get my money back out of it. |

Bought mine in TX for 8,500 at 90k, is the Idaho/West Coast market really that inflated?

Everything in Texas is cheaper for some reason. Seems like everything is bigger in Texas except for your profit margins......

People sell them here for as high as 10-12g even BEAT UP.. Or at least I have seen them for sale that high.. No way I would pay that much.
8 or 8.5 seems reasonable if the body is straight no real wreck damage and the paint is good. As well as all maintenance kept up with. |
