Question New JC Sports Canada

Could the Albertans post something about the store when they have a chance? Would like to know if its a decent shop, etc. (I'm sure its a decent place, just want to know if they stock stuff, etc...)

Its in Calgary. I am not sure of the details regarding an actual retail outlet but once its up and going, I am sure you will hear about it.

Keenan, as far as I know, theres nothing here yet.

Jack Ho is JC Sports Canadian distributor and I think he's starting up the JC SPORTS Canada. As far as i know, his company (Ho's Enterprises), is probably run out of his home?

I sure hope we gets a full shop, but I think it might just be a "parts outlet".

You might try contacting Jack (his phone number is on JC SPORTS webpage)

(BTW - All of these are just assumptions. Im not sure of all the details)

Ok here's some details for you guys. I will be heading up JC Sports Canada. But it will be a parts outlet (hence no tax for you guys). Anyways, I will provide product assistance for JC Sports here in Canada. There are several places in Calgary that do quality installs, but I can be reached via appointment for advice/tech etc. I will be getting a new # soon. As for my own company, that will no longer be active. I've talked to Joe about doing a groupbuy for Canadians only to kick this off. By a show of posts, please tell me which items you guys would be most interested in getting? I was thinking of doing an IHI turbo kit GB for us Canadians at a discounted price. Either that or Air Intakes and rear sway bars. Please post some suggestions.

Best Regards,

Jack

Tulit - there won't be a massive stock pile of JC sports stuff. There will be some inventory here. Reason is, if there is inventory here, there are tax implications, and according to a loophole in the system, by directly shipping from the states to you guys, GST and PST will be avoided using DHL.

I will give you guys more details soon.

Ok guys, I spoke w/ JC Sports, they are considering a special GB for Canadians only to kickstart JC Sports Canada. The same IHI turbo kit is being considered. It was on for $1999.99US but I talked to them and if I can get 10people wanting these kits, I can get it for you guys at $1919.99US plus shipping. I will check out how much shipping is from the US up to Calgary here to give everyone a rough estimate.

NOOOO!!! Must.... preserve.... balance of..... warranty.... must preserve!

Dang, that's such a good price! Maybe with a little competition now in Canada, Minnam/Tekworks (or whatever they're called now) will lower their prices too!

LaterZ!

Jack, thats awesome!

Though, I dont think we'll be able to get 10 people in on it though :-(

At any rate, can you talk to JC and see if he'd swap out the turbo for something a bit better suited for a bit of extra cash? (ie a T28 the very minimum).

Thanks....

Jack,

I don't think your correct in saying it's better for us to receive the goods directly from the states and we don't pay any taxes....

If you import any goods, we'll have to pay the duties which usually included the taxes. No shipper will pay that for anyone.

An example is the KYB/AGX struts. I purchase some struts from www.p-s-t.com and they were $389 US. I had them delivered to a US address near Ottawa but when I declared them at the border, they charged me PST and GST. The total of my price when it was converted was around $670 for 4 struts.

A Toronto member did the same purchase as myself but it was shipped directly at this home. He ended paying another $140 (total of $810). The extra was the duties and extra shipping cost to Canada from the states...

You should consider in Importing the goods and then reselling. If we are out of province, then you don't need to charge us PST.

Guys, for those interested in doing a Turbo GB please post here... I'll see what kind of package I can put together.

As for the tax stuff, well they will be shipping via DHL to Canada, and when you're using the DHL service, you don't pay GST since it's stuff out of country. I will check on sample shipping rates for suspension as well as something like Turbo kits. I will check prices for both ends of the country ie:Vancover, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal. I'll keep you guys posted.

Anyways, I will check on the torque chips for those who have '00-'01 Subarus as well as other goodies. I will have a JC Sports Aluminum Strut tower bar up here pretty soon if anybody wants it.

Hi Jack.

Sounds good. let us know how things go.

I used to be in the mail order business so know pretty good how these sorts of things work (most of my suppliers were in the US). You have the ablitity to request a refund from the government for the GST on all the stuff you import. However, by law you will be required to charge your customers GST... You wont have to charge them PST, etc however (unless Alberta gets PST and the goods are staying in Alberta)

Ok guys I found out that the magic little black box is $250US that's the boost box as well as torque chip combined. That's for you guys with the '00-up Subarus.

Tulit - actualy, since I'm only taking orders and providing help up here in Canada, every transaction will still be from down in the states, so since JC SPORTS USA is the ones technically charging you, you should be exempt from GST (since it's not a good or service with in Canada).

Anyways, what else would you guys like pricing on?

And if JC Sports in the US is selling us stuff directly, we're still responsible for GST (and PST for those who have it in your province)

This is how I understand the law anyways... If you found a loophole, awesome! hehe

If it's shipped directly from the US company, the purchaser is responsible for duty and GST and Provincial taxes upon delivery to their Canadian address. (and if you have UPS clear it, usually very expensive brokerage charges)

Ship it to a mail box south of the border, and you still are responsible for duty and GST, unless you sneak it across. (which is a really stupid idea, cuz if you're caught, you lose your car...no ifs and or butts...they impound your car, you lose your goods and you are fined.) You can clear it yourself, as a personal declaration, and pay no brokerage. (it's self serve at any US/Canada border, but takes time......if you get a busy border, you will be frustrated at the lack of help to clear your goods, but it will get cleared eventually. READ TIME !!)

If JC Sports Canada is selling from Alberta, he will have paid the duty and GST to clear it, and will charge the appropriate Provincial Sales tax to Albertans, and GST to all others.

That's how business works in Canada folks.

There's no magical way to avoid taxes or duty, and if a company is saying they are, they are either not telling the truth, or not conducting a legitimate business.

don
http://www.pdm-racing.com

ps, Japanese and European parts have MUCH higher duty rates than US manufactured parts...so buyers beware.

All the brokerage, GST etc is paid to DHL. Hence any fees that are extra of shipping will be covered by JC Sports Canada. DHL has an in house customs broker, so things should be cleared really quickly. Everything will be billed from JC Sports down in the US, but will have JC Sports Canada's address on there as well. There are actually several companies (cross-border) that have the same type of deal too.

Well, I guess by a show of posts, lets see who want's the little magical black box, I'll take to Joe and see what I can do. I'm seeing if I can get JC down in the states to ask the CC companies to bill in the Canuck buck.

Anyways, if any of you guys would like to contact me here's the ways to do it.
