04 6 speed swap into 02 Wrx with Sti swap
Yeah I'm doing the full swap and I was just wondering if there were any other brake setups I could use instead of the brembos? My conversion didn't come with them and I'm kinda looking for a cheaper temporary route..... Any ideas?

Up front you can use your stock WRX brakes. The '04 STi uses the same front hubs as all of the other non '05-'07 STi's.
What did you use for a rear diff? R160, or R180? If you used the R160 then your stock rear brakes will work. |

Na don't wanna screw the center differential so I'm going r180.... I didn't think you could use the r160 due to the gear ratio differences? Know anyone who has done this before?

The OP was asking if there were any cheaper, temporary options for brakes. For the front's there are many options. I don't know about the rear's.
Here is an interesting thread though: http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/suspen...talk-bbks.html |

I have the DSS conversion axles and don't like them. I'm working toward a 5x114 swap. I'm hoping to use my current LGT front brakes by using Tribeca rotors (5x114). I'm not sure what to do in the back. It depends on whether I can swap backing plates or not.

Stock auto driveshaft. The 6 speed is essentially the same weight/height/width/length as a 4eat.

^^ right, but you have to mod the gearing in the r160 to 3.90,
ot: i cant think of anything that is cheaper than a set of used rear brembos in your case, unless you do what everyone else is suggesting which is, find an atomatic driveshaft and making our old r160 diff 3.90 ratio instead of 3.54. |

You can bolt 06-07 2 pots directly to the R180 hubs and use the gravel spec (290x18/190mm parking brake) rotors.
I can supply you with calipers and rotors if you need them. -Dylan @ DS1 |

Where do you here that using a r160 will mess up the center diff? I think their are many people that did 6 speed swap that kept the R160.

Yea I know you need to change the rear diff to 3.9 But changing the ring and pinion everything should be ok because their all the same ratio correct? If you didn't have a 3.9 (ex. 3.7 or 4.44) then you would ruin the center and maybe front diff correct?

If you didn't use the correct ratio in the rear diff as your 6mt required you would damage the center diff.
