Default UTEC on JDM ECU

I tried searching and asking in other forums but for some reason no one knows so once again i trust you guys and you always seem to come through for me. So here it goes. Does anyone know if the UTEC will work on JDM version 8 ECU's? Or will i need a JDM version of UTEC? It's a simple question but all i've been able to come up with is "maybe".

I replied in your other thread, so here is a repeat.

YOU DEFINATELY need the AUS/JDM STi UTEC. You should be able to get one from TurboXS here, although when I got mine Nathan implied that they do not always have them in stock. Give them a call and tell them what you are planning and Either Nathan or Germaine will let you now what all you need, and if they have it.

Not correct, I have the US WRX UTEC on a RA ECU, it works fine.

You do have to directly wire the AVCS wiring (if you are using it) into the ECU instead of the UTEC.

You are better off with the JDM STi UTEC. If you are going to buy one this is the UTEC to get for this setup. I will not say anything more than that.

No question the JDM UTEC is best if you must buy one. To say you "DEFINATELY" need one is misinformation.

Agreed that it was misleading, although I still say you "Definately" need it. Yes you can get around it, but anyone ordering a UTEC for this purpose Definately NEEDS the JDM/AUS STi UTEC.

I run the Rev 6b US WRX Utec on my JDM Type RA Spec C ECU.. It works perfectly. Older Utecs did not have all the pins on the connectors. Later versions had the pins and passthrough signals. If you have a Rev6 Utec you are fine.

For pass through, yes.

Edit for spelling

Im bringing this back from the dead

What would be the difference between running the JDM UTEC and running a newer WRX UTEC??? If there is no difference other then the codes for the injectors then why spend a lot more on the JDM?

I called TXS and they said the JDM UTEC doesn't allow control of the AVCS, so why bother spending the extra $$ for no difference in performance?

Are you saying that the JDM Utec on a JDM ECU has a lesser chance to through a CEL than a USDM WRX Utec on a JDM ECU?

If you run the US utec on the JDM ecu you get four injector codes. The JDM Utec fixes that.
