Default Insurance question. My RS almost if not matching STi insurance

I got a quote for both the RS and the STI and they were ... both nearly the same. Is this true for all you guys? Just wondering...

Thats the sucky.... :-/

I didn't know this till resently. Not only is your insurance rate based off your driving record (eg. tickets, crashes, ect.) But also based off your area. I could have got my insurance down to $180 a month if i lived in 95601 area code vs 95621.

About a year ago when I was car shopping I had the same experience. I got quotes for a WRX, STi, Mustang and Dodge Magnum. They were all pretty close, and I think they went, from least to most, WRX-STi-Magnum-Mustang.

Let's see....

$124/month to insure my STi and my wife's SUV on the same policy, $500 deductible, full coverage +extras.

Can't imagine that a WRX would have been cheaper for me to insure.

I don't know exactly what happened but I got my WRX like 3 months ago and long story short it was under my moms name with me as a driver but she wasn't on the loan so I was paying like $150/month, they found out she wasn't on the loan and it went to like $585/month and they called me a few days after the new year and said for some reason the WRX/STi/EVO were all dropped in price after the new year review and mine just went down to $275/month, and I'm 20 with 2pts.

That's almost $200 more than my car payment!

Glad to hear it went down.
Marriage is the best insurance deduction without a doubt.

There are many factors involved in determining the premium. Your location, age, marriage status, ACV (actual cash value) of your car, and the accident numbers for your model and model year. It differs all over the country, and from ins company to ins company.

Credit history can also influence rates

Same here. I though I was saving $4,000 at the time on the purchase price by getting an '05 RS wagon instead of the base Legacy wagon, but after getting the insurance bill the net difference narrows down to just $2,000 over the first five years.

I compared the insurance bill to my previous vehicle, and the main problem is the collision portion. Apparently too many people are using all flavors of Imprezas as bumper cars.

The insurance cost difference between the RS/2.5i and the WRX is so small, that I must admit I was tempted to upgrade after I saw a metallic gray WRX '06 wagon right next to me at a traffic light.

I am paying $480 / 6 months for my WRX. That's because I get multiple car discount plus defensive driving course, etc...

My quote for an STi was about $1,400 more a year than a WRX. I'm hoping my rates will drop when I turn 25 this April. Also my accident from a few years ago should be cleared by then.

InsuranceHotline.com

I didnt use them seeing as i have something against the insurance they quoted me the lowest for.
They had gotten me almost $800 knocked off my original Ins companys quote after im on my third Ins company now changed 2 times in a week.

Reason i didnt switch back was my old company was rasing the rates about 70 cents a day over the last 3+ years so im not even about to just see if they can do that again. $2200+ to $1200 with these guyscheaper than my old car.

^ im also 35 next month no counts atleast not in the last 11 years.

I pay 120 for my 02 WRX and 02 Civic my Ex drives. I thnk it went lower. I am 28 and it dropped like 30 a month when I turned 25. But she keeps gettin tickets in her civic. I think it also helps that I say my WRX will be on a military post most of the time.
