Default Apexi Power FC Boost Control Kit Install - Questions!

I picked up the Apexi Power FC boost control kit and have a couple questions regarding the install.

When upgrading to the Apexi map sensor, do you leave the oem map sensor plugged in and reading?

Do you completely remove the factory boost solenoid? (Electrical connection and compressor/wastegate/bleed hoses?)

In the commander, there is a menu under the 'etc' heading to the effect of "boost control". Which symbol do you select for the Apexi boost kit (enable or disable)? I have it set at the top level option right now, which I believe is enable. The car starts and runs fine with the factory solenoid in place.

Thanks for the help!

It's a dyno tune and the tuner is doing a road tune afterwards... I'm not too worried.

FWIW... if anyone needs answers to the questions I posted...

Apexi map sensor and boost solenoid replace the factory units.

To enable boost control through the Power FC, boost control setting needs to be set to 'enable'.

your missing the point but oookay

it could be a engine dyno and still be incredibly difficult to tune well when you can only see a 4x4 snip of a 16x16 map

What are the benefits of using the APEXI boost control kit? I have an ej20g td05h-16g with Power FC and datalogit, why would I want to buy this as opposed to controlling boost with the factory stuff?

Thanks
Mike

The factory map sensor for the EJ20G can only accurately measure up to ~17 psi. If you use the Power FC to control boost and want to run more than the map sensor threshold pressure, you will either need to use the Apexi boost control kit or another form of boost control (manual, electronic...). That's the only reason to use it.

I'm just curious that's why I'm asking but why wouldn't you just use the GM 3 bar map sensor or a different aftermarket one, since can calibrate the Power FC to any map sensor? Much cheaper than the boost control kit.

Anyone? If I could get the same control I'd rather just spend $75 on a GM map sensor then go with the APexi boost control kit. Thanks

Mike

I would have to agree with jaxx, get the datalogit. Tuning with the controller is a big pain in the butt but possible. The datalogit has many other features that the controller cannot access so the tune will both be much better. Its worth postponing your tune in order to do it right then to pay more money for a tune you might not be happy with.

I have an powerfc and a apexi bcs on the way, datalogit has just been ordered.

You can't really go wrong.
