This is soooo timely; I've got around 100,500 as of this morning, I just did a clutch job (and group N trans mount & bushings) and checked a bunch of crap while I was under there, but not everything. I'll be giving this a thorough read and crawling back under the car this weekend. Thanks for posting, and I agree, 100k is mid-life not end times. Timing belt looks like a cake walk after the clutch job I just did.

200,000 miles this past saturday. Mid-life it is Hell it took 150,000 to need a clutch! Cant wait for my booty to show up, she needs a reward. Turned her to 200k in Yosemite. Perfect.

Bosch recommends replacing unheated one- or two-wire O2 sensors on 1976 through early 1990s applications every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. Heated three and four-wire O2 sensors on mid-1980s through mid-1990s applications should be changed every 60,000 miles. And on 1996 and newer OBD II-equipped vehicles, the recommended replacement interval is 100,000 miles.
Here.

Our O2 sensors will let you know. Sadly, the front one is kinda pricey so it can be a kick in the teeth, but I wouldn't say there's a need per say to replace just for fun as even with a 100% jank one, your car will still get you to work. No code/no horrendous MPG....no worry say I, but others have other opinions.

I've had an o2 sensor go out on me that never told me it was broken, they are on their last leg once you pass 100k/miles. No it’s not a “leave you stranded on the side of the highway” type of thing but it will fail.

Also I would clean the iacv, too many people don't even know, or forgotten what their car is supposed to sound like when its idling.

New MAF sensor and boost control solenoid perked her right up! Noticeable difference. Motor mounts and turbo inlet next. Switched back to a regular air filter too, no more K&N.

I think this thread needs specifics including oem part# to those who don't know what they're reading.
stickies should be spoon fed so we dont have the annoying question of which bushing should i change and what kind?

theres more to it than rubbers

Really? I mean we all have internet and a subaru parts dept, I was able to take what I found from this thread and with little to no effort, get my parts online and from the local dealer parts dept. You can do it. Driving the car itself takes the same amount of effort and know-how.

If part #'s are spooned out, then people will start blaming the spoon-feeders for misinformation, blah blah blah.

for those in the salt belt:
don't forget to check control arms, front sub-frame and rear crossmember for rust.

Calipers and brake lines, hard lines especially.

my 02 is at 165k and the salt is brutal here and hasn't been kind, replacing all of the above items were done with the help of a bottle of Jack, map gas and a voodoo witch.

Another area easily looked over is the engine harness. Heat reeks havoc on wire split loom and electrical tape. When I had mine off I replaced all the old tape, broken split loom, covered exposed wire, retaped soldered and heat shrink and reinforced with new zip ties.

Great writeup, Ron.

You should add http://parts.subaru.com/ to the OP. This site contains all the exploded drawings for Subaru vehicles and their respective part numbers. This site is actually better than most of the "catalogs" available on vendor sites.
