Default Transmission swap questions

Swapping a 2003 Wrx 5 speed transmission into my 99 Impreza OBS because the current 5 speed has horrible diff bind, and has for quite some time. I have a few questions and have tried to search but had no luck.

Will a hydraulic clutch pedal assembly from a 1998 Legacy Outback fit in my 99 Impreza, and do I have to cut a hole in the firewall to mount the master cylinder? The Impreza is a cable operated clutch

Can I do this without a lift just using jack stands, and a jack?

Sorry for all the questions, I just need to get this done asap so I can continue to get back and forth to work.

I am in the middle of a swap for my 97 impreza outback. Got all the parts from a 02 wrx for my hydraulic conversion (pedal assembly, clutch master, clutch slave cylinder). All bolts right in and no modifications needed. Well, except the mounting holes on the pedal assembly I had to elongate a little. The hole in the firewall (factory made with a rubber grommet plugging it) for the clutch master was just above the gas pedal.

It's ok. Thanks guys. I wound up using the pedal assembly from a 98 RS and bought a new clutch master to an 03 wrx to match the transmission. Now is just to figure out the wiring. Tried to fire up the car but it wont even try to turn over.. guessing its because the neutral switch on the transmission isnt plugged in.
