Default It has been brought to my attention...

That the Legacy forum is feeling a neglected by the moderation staff of said forum.

I personally thought you guys did ok in here. I do read ths forum, granted not as often as I should

Ive always thought of the Legacy guys as well rounded, well minded individuals who can control themselves.

I have really never seen anykind of problems in this forum.

Its part of the reason we let alot of things for you guys slide, like selling your parts in here and letting vendors post in here.

At least thats how I look at it.

So I apologize for not taking a bigger role in the forum and I will try to make it in here on a daily basis.

I encourage all of you to make good use of the report post icon if you feel something needs to be moderated.

Jay

Geebus you have been putting in some real work around here today.
Oh BTW no matter how I feel about the OT "issues" today it helped me get a ton more work done with no threads to read

And the Leg forum has never had any issues that I have seen in the last couple of years. Mostly good constructive help with little or no problems.

Thanks for coming, please drive through.

There have been some threads that went on longer than they should have. Specifically one about a GTB on ebay, it took a few days for the mods to catch it.

It seems like now we our largest problem is repeat threads where people fail to search. Maybe the FAQ should be updated to include a few threads that seem to pop up every other week. I would like to see some threads on the ej22t in there, a good solid thread on springs/struts, and something about JDM body parts.

McDade, it's not as if we weren't properly moderated, it's just the fact that it took so long. I speak for all of us when I say I appreciate letting certain threads, i.e. "for sale threads" slide. You know as well as any of us that the Legacy community is very small. It would take us forever to sift through the for sale forums to find something for our vehicles.

The fact remains that you certainly do have your hands full with Off Topic, expecially after today. Is it really too much to ask for another moderator? The last thing I want to do is step on any toes or point any fingers, but another moderator in the neighborhood could only help us.

We're all mature here. Your average Legacy owner is not a high school student that received their vehicle from mommy and daddy. Most of us are mature adults, and that is the exact reason you haven't had the need to keep a close eye on us; however, as I said before, one more won't hurt.

Here's my .02

I don't see it as a matter of the forum needing authority, it's just the little things that mods can do (such as stickying threads, locking threads like reposts, moving junk threads out of here, etc) don't always get done right away. We don't act like most of the impreza crowd (shhhh, don't tell! ) and flame away, although there are a few around here that tick everyone off, it's not that big of a deal, IMO. It's just nice having moderator features that are easily accessible to the Legacy crowd on a daily basis.

I totally understand about the sticky threads and the other duties of mods.

OT issues will blow over.

I'll see what I can do about finding a 3rd mod for you guys. I cant promise that I can make it happen but ill try.

I know you guys need someone very active in this forum so ill be keeping my eye out for a new mod from this forum.

ive also noticed that this forum seems to be what nasioc should be. a little B.S. every now and then. but it is a relatively small group of people that post and contribute to this particular forum. im glad that some stuff here seems to slide a little more than the other sections on nasioc. kind of a "good-ole-boy" thing.

It seems like the Legacy forum is like the AFI and Pre-2002 Factory Turbo forum, we seem to regulate ourselves, but there are little things that could be done to keep the forum going smoothly.

How about arranging the FAQ by year e.g., 90-94, 95-99...

Here is a good thread about the ej22t, but it is not from the Legacy forum. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ht=ej22t+heads

It would also be nice if we could get a thread started with suspension mods. We had a few good ones a few years ago, but they were spread out and not really organized.

It could go like this.

Springs:
Struts:
Top hats:

Because they're usually not way out in the open... But if you're here for a while, actually involved in the discussions, you start to notice things.

Little things, like when that guy K-a-o-s (?) joined up, and he was just acting like a jerk. He's calmed down now... His posts didn't necessarily violate any of the rules, nor did they always fulfill the requirmetns for reporting. But he sure needed a good talking to, and he wasn't responding well at all to "regular" members. Actual commentary by a Mod would have been beneficial in that case. Once again, he seems better now, which is nice to see.

Also, on a similar note, in Ben's epic "Phatsuby's Project" thread, there are a few useless posts that should get cleaned out. And there are a bunch of posts where people are needlessly re-quoting the pictures, making the thread hard to view. Those posts should have the quoted parts removed, just to clean it up. That thread is easily one of the greatest to ever appear here, and should get archived in good condition.

Basically, it's not really that bad around here. But when stuff pops up, especially n00b silliness, a little more Mod involvement would be good. Don't just hack the thread or lock it- clean it up, respond to the n00b so they can see why we might be jumping on them, and keep the flow going.

i like the forum just how it is.. old school.. and a good mix of folks who all bring a little something to the table. but I agree, can we sticky some threads... #1 - suspension stuff! I swear if i have to read another "what wrx stuff will fit my blah, blah blah legacy.." a faq/sticky would help.. its pretty easy as well. maybe if some of the guys who have done this swap get together and make the faq. we'd need some drop height, strut lenght.. stuff like that.

I may be relatively new here, but this forum has the same feel as where I used to hang out (Passat: other models on the 'tex) A core community of knowledgeable folks that take great pride in their cars, and helping out the new folks. I am not a young kid with mom and dad's car that I want to take to the track (though I am considering trying my hand at rally cross) I am a reponsible 30 year old father of two who takes great pride in having a unique vehicle. I came from a heavily modified 91 VW Passat wagon, and now have a 96 Leg wagon. I appreciate the folks on here and there resourcefulness in making a sedate car into something that we can all take pride in.

Out with the old, in with the new:

I don't think this forum needs a lot of attention. I think perhaps it seems like there's been no moderator at all. A few long threads stickied for reference, and I think that is it. It's probably all we need.

If your a moderator in the OT, what a thankless job. Or do you guys get paid for that? Because it doesn't seem like it is worth it to me.

If you could look at a new moderator. Perhaps we could just vote a member in?

Personally, I enjoy the Legacy forum, even though my Legacy is something of the past. Its a bit different than the rest of the sections here on Nasioc, but it has a cool atmosphere and is why I still post here frequently and lend any advice that I can.

The only grunt that I have is lack of proper stickies, such as a show off your Legacy etc. The part number sticky is a good start, but never really took off. There are plenty of threads here which should be stickied or at least placed in the Threads to Note, but never do.

Things like allowing vendors to post here and allowing users to post FS items is a bonus (and helpful to the Legacy owners) and helps us out as a whole since we're dwarfed by the rest of the Impreza people. (There I go talking like i still own the Legacy )

I also enjoy some of the OT comments and posts, threads, etc here. They help keep the atmosphere light and often give us Legacy guys a safe haven to joke with eachother without being harassed by a bajillion other people.

Lets continue to rock on here, and keep the quantity of quality information up and the atmosphere happier!

Personally, I think DLC is doing a fine job here(especially as of late), and McDade, you've also been here on occasion which is nice. Keep up the good work, gentlemen.

what happened to my mod nominations?

Basically agree with what others have said, the little things that are allowed are nice, but its basically because its more logical to allow those things to happen for our crowd because it is a tighter group with fewer people on a regular basis.

I also dont think we should go on a sticky spree, haha but having a master sticky and FAQ section would be nice.

I agree that my thread got OT at times, but I tried to keep it on topic, and no offense toe KAOS but it was usually him pulling it off topic, but I think it is better now. I like to update it to give the legacy guys some entertainment to check out regularly, haha. I think it could be cleared out, or what would have been better is to have a mod that was on the board come and say "lets keep it on topic guys" then it probably wouldnt get that far, and if it did, then start deleting posts.

But I agree with everyone else and mcdade at the same time, we are more self moderating, so we don't necessarily need a presence, but at the same time I get that it is nice to have that presence and feel like the mods are actively involved, even though DLC owns a legacy, he is not necessarily a die hard enthusiast(no offense to him and its not a fault at all, people have diff preferences.) vs. someone like myself, or wisconmark, or xcntrk.

wisconmark mods on lsi net, so he could be a good canidate, i still think xcntrk75 would be a good one as well.

I guess I cannot be considered a mature owner because I was a high school student who received a car from his parents and grandparents, haha.

either way i dont think you guys(mods) should apologize or feel bad cause you have done a good job, and its not like you get thanks for it(thanks for doing it by the way)

you could run a poll on who the active posters and readers think should be a mod(maybe get ideas for people from the other sticky thread) and then from whoever is chosen you could see if they are really the best suited individual, it will be like our democratic elections, where we get a choice but not really

I’d accept a moderation role! I’m an IT engineer and am online nearly 24x7, even in my Legacy in rush-hour traffic I’m online with my CarPC

Seriously though, availability is obviously a critical requirement for a potential moderator. Ones employment or daily activities would need to allow sufficient time online for moderation duties to adequately give the necessary attention to the Legacy forum and its users. As I mentioned, my employment and interests require I be online and available as much as possible, so I for one fit the bill!

Nobody is suggesting any radical changes to the forum. It just needs some minor updates, tweaks and attention. These are things that a Mod who is really involved with the forum could do with relative ease.
