SubieBucks- Can dealers "hold" the remainder of the $100 certificate?
I thought that I remembered reading in one of the recent Subaru manufacturer magazines (elecronic or print) that service departments can redeem SubieBucks and "hold" any remainder if your service is under $100. I can't find the reference. Maybe I made it up.
Does anyone else recall it, and do you have more info?

I think it's up to the individual dealership. Most will not do this. You can, however, use the 'excess' to buy parts (e.g. oil, oil filters, gaskets, etc.) before you settle your bill, which might reduce your next service bill if you remember to bring them with you.

It isn't a big deal- I just thought that I had read it somewhere and now I can't find it. My go-to Subaru parts person asked me to look into it. |

I think you were referring to this which comes from a flyer Chase Bank sent out:
"Once you earn 100 reward dollars, we'll send a $100 Subaru Certificate. Maximum Subaru Reward Dollars that can be earned is $500 annually. Each certificate is good for up to 4 years from date of issue. Plus, any unused reward dollars from a redeemed certificate are now tracked at your Subaru dealer so they can be used upon your next service visit." My question to a big Subaru dealership parts department i have ordered parts from: "Does this also apply to parts orders? For example, if i send in $200 on a $150 order will i have a credit of $50 for my next parts order? Or is this strictly for "service visits"?" The parts department response: "I cant keep a credit in our parts dept. What can happen is Service can keep a credit on file and apply it to labor or parts on their end so you can have a credit that way. Let me know if you have any other questions." As Beach Bum said, i think it's up to the individual dealership. |
