I've had my Rex for almost a year now... I always talk to my girlfriend about boost and turbos, and today she asked me if my car had a turbo!!! Where has she been for the last year?

I had some rednecks in a pickup truck ask me "will that thing light up all four?" I was like "uhhh... If I turn off the traction control, reved it up to 6 and dumped the clutch it might.. Terrible way to launch a car though if you want to get off the line properly"

Talking to a car salesman earlier while I was waiting for my license plate.
Car Salesman: Nice wrx. Me: Thanks man. Car Salesman: I've sold alot of those here on the lot, and I like giving people advice on their subies. Me: thats cool. Car Salesman: so does your wrx have a downpipe? Me:yup, (and I started walking away) ( I was thinking to myself, I thought he knows about subies?) |

I've had plenty of people compliment me while working at the drive thru oddly enough. They never really know what it is, just notice how "nice" it looks and sounds to them. They always say "hey thats a nice car!" Cept this one guy one time at a In-n-Out drive through. He wasn't working at the drive thru window, but saw me as I was heading toward the second pick-up window and he ran up just to say, "Hey man! Nice car! I always wanted a 2.5RS, thats sick!" Just thought that one was funny, young dude knew what he was talking about at least. |

Reading some of your stories, It really is amazing how ignorant most of the population are about cars. If you're going to be interested in something, even just a little bit, wouldn't you want to learn more about it?

well he asked me for a downpipe and everyone knows that turbo cars have a DP even an OEM DP one. DP is always a given on turbo cars. maybe he was asking for an aftermarket downpipe but he just said downpipe so it means he's not sure if there's a downpipe on my wrx. and I find it funny when he asked me. It's called common sense.

not socially akward, Im not buying anything from him anyways, Im just waiting for my license plate. And the way he asked me a common sense question "If my car has a downpipe" mean't that he doesn't really know what he's talking about it's using your common sense of course there's a downpipe on a turbocharged car. It is like asking me "if the V6 engine has 6 cylinder"

yea I think so too, probably he meant aftermarket DP. I was waiting for him to say "Aftermarket" but he stop with DP, and waited for my answer, so I really thought at that time that he really meant just an oem DP.

If I had aftermarket, I would have said "Yeah, I have a ______ downpipe." But I can totally see how wanting to make fun of a guy for wanting to have a polite conversation was tempting as well. |
