At the gas station yesterday when some older dude in a lifted H2 Hummer pulls up at the pump next to my 05 wrx.
Him: Hey is that one of those cars that tries to race me all the time?
Me: Haha yea, most likely.
Him: Well...I have an 850 horsepower corvette at home, it has a supercharged v8!!!
Me: Oh really? What kind of supercharger you got? Roots? Centrifugal?
Him: Errrrrrr ummmm, littlefield???
Me: Heh aaalright, well take it easy man, gotta go.
Him: (as I'm pulling away) Hey man, you should throw a turbo on that thing!

And roots vs centrifugal is a pretty stupid question when talking to vette guys. The vast majority run twin-screws.

Centri seems to be pretty popular with the LS3's, also roots seems to be making a big come back with the TVS

I wasn't doubting the littlefield brand, I was asking what 'type' of supercharger it was. Just chit chattin a little bit, wondering about his setup. It's quite a claim for a street car, know what I mean?

The other day at work my car was outfront when the garbage men were there emptying the dumpsters and the one started talking to me. First asked if I had a twin turbo set up, I said nope just a small single turbo. Then he asked if I "have one of these things installed" and made a circle with his hands. I had no idea what that meant so I just said ya I got that and he said sweet and left.

Just helped my dad and his friend build a LS1-turbocharged Camaro that made 800 horsies. It was about $12000 total. My dad, myself, and the owner of the car did everything but the custom exhaust and machining of the head and valves.

$12000 is a big chunk of cash but compared to some builds on here, it doesn't look like much.

But... it's apples to oranges. I like my Jap-Crap and Murican' muscle but each have very different strengths and weaknesses.

Edit: and the 800hp monster made this power with some fuel pressure problem. The car is all stock on the outside. Only thing that gives it away is the turbo hanging out the back side haha. And the exhaust is very mild, almost factory/sport in sound level. Those LS motors are easy to hit crazy numbers.
My other favorite motor that can shoot big on a low budget is the 2jz

its really cheap and easy to get big numbers out of muscle cars (12 grand is still considered a "budget" build).

"Is it fast?"

I love that question.

"Is the STi an upgraded GTI? Where is it in relation to the GTI?"

or the classic
"Dude....it's just a subaru..."
And that's always before they see it

Just pointing out many people driving corvettes have the money they can drop the car off at some shop, ask them to have fun with it and drive it off that lot.

I can't tell you every little part in my car. I know I have a TD-04 from factory and want a Blouch 20G, or a TD05, as where I want to be.

The amount of people on here that get a kick out of people not knowing every inch of their car, or not knowing exactly the difference between a WRX and STi (when they don't drive one) is appalling.

You do the right mods to a WRX or STi and you'll gain a **** load of power too.

So, shut the **** up since you can't understand both sides of an argument.

Whoa, getting angry?

You need to learn to reword your paragraphs as to make it clear who you're talking to next time. I went back and reread and it clearly comes off as you attacking me when it was meant for someone else.

Furthermore, classic doesn't mean OEM, original. You can disagree if you want, it just doesn't. And those old V8s can make much more power, much easier than our H4 engines can. Simple as that. I love the Boxer engine but, let's be real, some 450ci engine can make power just by sniffing at it.

This happened on the drive home:

Driving car stop at red light lalalala music playing, some guy in a white lifted ranger yells from his car to my car, "Yo bro!"

Me giving him a disgruntled look, "huh"

Repeats 'YO BRO!"

Me: What do you need sir?

Guy : How many hp is that making?

Me: Its around 300

Guy: Its four wheel drive right?

Me: Yes. (....)

Guy: How does that work? since the engines closer to the front wheels wont the fronts spin first?

Me: The wheels arnt connected the engine, theirs a center diff that controls where the power goes too.

Guy: Alright cool thanks dude (peels out)

In my head, "So..how does he think rwd works?"

Parked my car. While gathering my things, I look up to see a ~10 year old boy grinning at me through my window. As I open the door to get out
Boy (still grinning): "Hey! I like your Subaru! Do you like it?"
Me: Love it!
Boy (still grinning): My dad drives a Subaru! Do you give the 'peace' sign to people?
Me: yes I do.
Boy(still grinning): Cool! People wave at my dad all the time!

and the conversation continued from there... cute kid.

Yep! The little boys know WRX! "Mom! Look! Thats a WRX!" I hear coming from little kids in parking lots quite often.

Met a buddy at a gas station to give him some parts. There was a guy (short, black guy, long dreads, looked like Lil' Wayne) that was at the gas station and my buddy warned me he is probably gonna come ask me if he can wash my windows for gas money. About a minute later he came over to me.

Guy: "Ay yo man I'll wash your windows for a nugget of weed"

Me: "No thanks, and I don't have any weed"

Guy: "Oh come on man don't lie I know you got weed if you're driving a car like this!"

Me: "Nope really I don't"

Guy: "I like your car a lot though, what is this, one of those Hon.....Acura A...Accords?"

He asked me all the typical questions (Is it fast? How fast does it go? Etc.) and said he likes the hoodscoop and asked if I cut the hole in the hood myself.

Before I left he asked us if we know what is wrong with his van. Said it keeps overheating. We were by Omaha, Nebraska, and he said he was from New York heading to California to go snowboarding...and had literally NO water or antifreeze in his radiator.

i got a really good deal on a set of rims recently because they had two valve stem holes per rim (factory defect). when i was getting tires put on last weekend:

guy at the shop: yo man you know these have 2 valve stem holes on each rim?!

me: yeah...

guy: is there like, a reason for that? like weight or aerodynamics or something? just curious man i ain't seen nothing like this before! it's crazy!

me, losing my patience: brah, you just don't understand! these are racing rims, brah!

i took off before he could further damage my IQ with more of his questions. because clearly two valve stems takes off 30 pounds of weight and streamlines the air flow over the entire car
