car runs. Needs some more tuning and the OP can take it home. I think he said he's coming by this week to pick her up.

Hey man really sorry to hear about your build. Glad to hear the new motor is going to work. I wonder how many 2.2t's are left here in the states. I am currently embarking on a 2.2 build for my 04 and plan to use a set of v8 spec C heads. I think I will start my build thread tomorrow as I take pics tearing down my busted 2.0 thats on my back deck. I look forward to seeing what numbers you put down with the 2.5 and wish you the best of luck with the new motor.
Cheers,
Josh

I am picking it up next wednesday! It will need 700 break in miles before we can do a full performance tune and see what she is capable of. Really excited!

Its been a while since I did cost estimates on parts. You're probably right, it might be cheaper now to go different routes. I always felt that the 6 speed gearing started to feel too close when you started making more than 300whp. I put 90k miles on my stock RS tranny and never replaced it, 70k of those miles were with a ACT 2 clutch and forced induction. I guess it all depends on the driver.

we've had great luck with the Albins gearsets. Craig's RS made 550ftlbs of torque to the wheels and they help up just fine. At the track he broke two axles at once on a launch.
He broke the left rear and right front.

^ Dom and I want to get some Helical Dog gears custom made for us by Albins. I think he said we need to order 4 or 5 sets before Albins will manufacture them for us. Maybe a group buy in the future? I have seen the beating those gears can handle first hand and it is quite impressive.

I am shying away from a 6 speed swap at this point for the reason RS_NW stated above. 1 & 2 ratios are real short......

Yeah unfortunately the car never made it onto the dyno. Dom said it was real fast while it lasted

Sticking with the 18g for now. No point in going bigger until I address the weak point that is the tranny.

I picked up the car yesterday and drove it home! She is currently tuned with a break in map set to 8psi. It was soo nice to finally hit boost in my GC!

I still have a TON to do but at least she is up and running.

My to do list:
-DETAIL THE CAR!! Sooo dirty after sitting in the shop for that long.
-Adjust the BOV.... I think it is opening too early and bleeding boost
-Fix my Boost gauge. Should just be some straight forward wiring here.
-Rewire my speedometer, it is not currently working
-Install back seats
-Tidy up the engine bay. Now that we know everything is functional it's time to hide some of those ugly wires and hoses

Special thanks to Dom, Craig, and Wes for all their hard work getting this thing finished. I am really excited to turn up the boost a bit after break in and see what kind of numbers she is putting down.

Pics coming soon

Pics!

I did the 100 mile oil change last night and it was looking nice and clean. It made a really strange cloudy pattern at first but I think it was because it was still warm. I check it again this morning and it looked like regular oil. No signs of gold in my pan haha!

I have gotten a couple nice clean pulls in, nothing to outragous and I must say this thing can move Even tuned at 8psi she pulls very nicely. A couple hundred more miles and we will CRANK UP THE BOOST

we put a break in additive into all our new motors. It's loaded with zinc and other materials that give a cloudy oil.

The next change should be clear. If it isn't, then there are problems. However, considering this engine was blueprinted and everything was triple checked I don't think that will be an issue.

Yeah I figured that you guys had something up your sleeve for the oil to do that

Honestly that oil was clean as a whistle, I never thought anything was wrong with it. It was just interesting as I have never seen anything like it before.

I tightened the spring on the BOV a bunch and it is opening properly now. I also got a new hood that is in MUCH better shape than mine was

Thanks to Club SiL and his poor totaled Blue Boxer2 () for being very generous with extra parts. Your car will live on as a part of mine bro!

Has anyone ever cut the spare tire holder out of their trunk? I am looking at doing this and using a 1/4" aluminum sheet with some pop rivets to make a new trunk floor. Save some weight and look way nicer than my crappy rusted hole in the trunk.

Anything I need to watch for when doing this? The fuel tank looks like it is further forward but I would probably use a cutting wheel rather than the plasma torch just in case.

Thoughts?

Went to Maxwell power for my tune yesterday. The car is running very well and I am really happy with it. She put down 330 whp and 360 wtq at about 17 psi. We picked up about 50 whp and 80 wtq from the break in tune. We were really impressed with how the turbo performed under wastegate pressure; about 300 to the wheels at 10 psi. It looks like 330 hp is about as much as a I am going to get from pump gas alone. I do have a meth injection kit that I am planning on installing but for now I want to enjoy my new pump gas map

With methanol injection I should be able to reach my 350/350 goal (obviously have the TQ already) and then I can start thinking about going to a bigger turbo. This turbo is really fun to drive and the powerband is very usable and plenty fast.......for now

As usual HUGE props to Maxwell Power for making this dream a reality for me If you have never been there go check it out!

Dom, can you post the power curves here if you have a chance?

nice car, pity about the first engine.

are you sure that front subframe was from a v3? looks the same as my JDM V8 spec C one with the extra bracing.
