Default NESIC Motorcycle ride/meet, 2003, the Event of the Spring!

Yeah, so who's in?

I'm pretty sure we can count on Sirkbac and SubEd, known as Ed and Other-Ed.

Who else wants in? Here's a poll, so we can get an idea on which day would be the best.

Probably the place we'll have it is the Kankamangus Highway, up in New Hampshire. It kinda is a middle ground for SubEd and the rest of us. We don't really ride fast, per se, we keep things safe. Sure, the speed limit may be crossed once or twice, but that's only when there are no other vehicles around.

We'll plan for a Saturday, and if anyone wants to make a weekend trip out of it, that's fine. The rain date will be the following weekend, in case of such a problem... Word.

So, without further adeu...

PS. Check all dates that are good for you.

Would any of you be willing to have a passenger?

I've never ridden a motorcycle but I'm very interested in getting into it. It's sort of a natural extension of my track driving fetish, I think.

doh! I can't edit it, either. But it's the 26th

Oh, and with the weather, you never know. We rode last year on August 25th, and it was FREAKIN COLD! Just ask Sirkbac. Two rides over the Kank, around midnight, at about 35 degrees. Ack.

And don't worry, there will be more.

Maybe you guys should have a bike garage day to get everything working for spring. I need to change out a chain and sprockets, along with getting some fresh rubba. Drinking beer and admiring the steeds in the company of other men, doesn't get much better than that??

Dude, I could have sworn the bikes are "Beemer" while the cars are the "Bimmer"'s...no?

That's a good idea...but since we'd have to ride to where we would want to do this work, wouldn't that defeat the purpose kinda? Unless, of course, you have a trailer...

Oh, and so far, May 17 is in the lead, and ya know, that's probably the best date for it...kinda teh later the better, in terms of temp. Of course, there have been plenty of Memorial Day's when it's been over 90, so we should be OK.

We can work out the details of everything as time goes on. But if anybody has any specific requests of where to go, what to do, etc., just chime in and we'll see how everyone takes it.

I sold my bike this winter to feed my new car habit. Now I'm getting those "need to ride" rumblings. It's weird, so many years with the bike.....

When's good for me depends on when I have the bike running decently ('82 Suzuki GS650L, for what it's worth). Fortunately, the local shop I just had give it a stem-to-stern checkup seems to think that beyond dirty carbs - which may or may not take a lot of work to clean up - the bike's in generally good shape. It's not the prettiest thing, but that's OK - I won't cry over a new scratch if it falls over. Hopefully I'll have it running well by then and can join you guys.

It seems that there's some autocross type event going every one of the possible choices, unfortunately. But I'm not above skipping something, either. Group rides don't happen every weekend. Autocrosses do!

Just so y'all know, I may be an experienced autocrosser, but I'm a total n00b rider. Did the MSF course last fall, and basically haven't been able to ride since. So please take it easy on me.

Damn straight you should bring your Vespa... it's a gosh darned Subaru board biker get together isn't it??? LOL!!! Perhaps I should sport my best Devo outfit and bring my bike out to join what I am sure would be great fun.

Beemers are bikes and Bimmers ar CARS... dude, get it right.

Watch out for Justin. Not just for his sake but for you own!

I am sick as a dog and bored at home and this board is way amusing. What a great crew, just rading your posts I am beginning to think Raj is just plain vanilla middle of the road normal.

Voted for the 17th, as it may be awhile until the sand and salt buildup is removed from the roads after this winter. It's probably not a major issue, but if it's going to be a group ride with new(ish) riders, why tempt fate?

Besides, I need to either change tires, or adapt to a new bike if I get one. Might as well allow time to re-adapt to riding.

Sounds like quite the variety of bikes, which is great

Definitely starting to get the itch. Visiting dealers and checking out the 2003 models has only made it worse.

OK, May 17th it is!

Let's plan on meeting up at the McDonald's right off the exit from 93 to the Kank. I hope 11:00am is good for people? I realize some of us will have to ride like 2 hours to get there.

Sirkbac, we can ride up together, as usual.

Also, if it rains, or it's going to be below 50, we'll reschedule.
