Default installed boost gauge, parking lights stuck on on after key removal

i just installed a boost gauge on a friends MY04 wrx, and i didnt notice whether or not it did this before hand, but the turn signal stays lit unblinking (which im guessing is the parking lights)

we tapped a line off the back of the cd player (it was a solid blue color, the previous owner did alot of crappy splicing and electrical work and i didnt take notice if the line leading out of the cd changer was a different color)

any idea what would make these stay on? what can we do to get these to turn off once the key is removed from the ignition even when the lights are already turned off?????

thanks a bunch

i should add that we tested that power source with one of those pen lights that has a ground running to it with an alligator clip.... the light shut off when the key was removed from the ignition

have you checked if you accidentally pressed the parking light switch that's on top of the steering column?
