Oh, and, something else, I don't have any issues buying a brand new car with some amount of miles on it. I bought my 2006 WRX Wagon with 42 miles on the ODO. I bought it late October 2006 while MY2007 cars were already on the lot. A bunch of people must have test driven it before me. Guess what, it's a car, it's meant to be driven right off the assembly line.

Everyone is getting a little too amped up about...

...a random guy on the Internet...

...that wrote about a dealership...

...that has a BRZ...

...that he says won't let anyone take for a test drive.

It's not SOA, it's not FHI, it's some guy on the Internet posting about a dealership. Who knows if it's true? Who cares? Here's all that matters:

If a dealership doesn't allow test drives for a car and you need one, don't buy from them. EZPZ.

Oh, you're right! It's been quite an odyssey since March 1st, I'll tell you that much.

EDIT: Can't believe I could fit Massachusettes.

Absolute riot to drive! David Hanks was great to talk to, had excellent follow-up skills, and kept in touch with me even while he was on vacation. The shipping took about two weeks from payment, which is some BS, but I understand the dispatcher they used isn't highly rated. The actual driver was great, cool guy, and assuaged my fears about shipping it...I just can't recommend the dispatcher that the driver was contracted under.

Congrats!

Our red and galaxy blue BRZ are still chilling at the dealership. A WRB one just came in, too, that will probably sit there as well, but hopefully not.

Black one should be there very soon.

Sorry to hear about the shipping ordeal I guess I got a little lucky with it only taking a couple days but glad to hear it was a good experience.

My driver was very cool too maybe the same guy.

Victor? The reason I say he was cool is because I instantly picked up that he spoke Russian and was able to communicate with him in his home language. Seriously though...two weeks is some BULL****. Had the car registered a week ago too...

I wish this dealership was local to me because they do seem stand-up in my dealings with them. I do have a question though; are SNE warranties any different than SOA warranties? I know they're all Subarus...but I wasn't sure if the two different distributors play a role in anything.

How far away did your car have to travel to reach you from the point it arrived in America, Orb?

The warranties are through SoA regardless of where it is purchased from.

I think Orb was saying it took awhile to get the car on a truck, it was sitting at the dealer. Sometimes they will wait until they have a full hauler, I think I just got lucky. I had a different driver, the guy I had definitely wasn't russian.

Just about 400 miles from the dealership to my house. It got picked up Thursday night and was at my house yesterday morning at 9AM. No shipping over the weekend and the car was paid for 15 days ago. We really rushed to get the ball moving on payment (stated talking to David the Friday prior) so that it could get shipped ASAP; it didn't make a difference, the shipped got there at the end of the pickup window.

I thought it was pretty intuitive, but thanks for the confirmation.

Thanks for clarifying. I was thinking of getting my next car out-of-state since I did that with the STI and Forester previously. The Forester I drove back to Alaska form Park City, Utah. The STI I shipped from Yakima, WA. I was also looking at Fairbanks, Alaska, for a new car, which is just over 300 miles north.

Shipping around here is so ridiculous that it's usually cheaper to just get stuff done yourself. For 400 miles I would've tried to catch a small plane and short cab ride to get my BRZ. I do know everyone has varying circumstances, though. At least you have one now!

There were some circumstances that weren't preventing me, but made it more difficult logistically speaking. In retrospect, I should have flown up and gotten it. $250 ticket (and that's without planning or even looking for a deal) and the gas already in the tank would have been enough to get home. Maybe another few gallons...it would have been nearly half as much as I paid to get it shipped.

My suggestion for out-of-state purchases is to setup shipping yourself with a company you know or someone you know has experience with. I can't say enough about David Hanks though, he was GREAT.

The car is great too!

You really don't have to quote me and then emphasis my name. It's weird, Kaitlin.

Slow sale of BRZ is slow. Winter is almost upon us. These cars need moved right meow!

then you'd fall over LOLing just like I did if you stopped to take a look at the WRB BRZ limited at Balise Subaru in Warwick, RI. Asking $32,800 with a $2,500 dealer markup listed on a seperate sheet next to the orignal sticker for $28,500. Had a few other installed options(lo-jack and some Autobahn package)

Cripes. I'm hoping for a strong hurricane season so I can buy a salvage one for a track car.

I went to Bertera when I was shopping for my Leggy. Terrible customer service and they get mixed reviews online. For anyone considering buying long distance from Steve Lewis, they are awesome. Ended up buying from them and the experience was great. Check their reviews on DealerRater.com, they have over 550 reviews and only one listed as being negative.

Nice 1st post. Do you work for Steve Lewis or DealerRater.com?

I left the negative review. I wish I had more hands, so I could give Steve Lewis and DealerRater more thumbs down!
