go to a transmission shop, dealerships charge way way to much- 1500+ for a clutch and your local trans shop probably around 700 ish

Theres plenty of local shops that will swap a clutch for around $400...ask around on the boards for options besides dealers.

I have always been very happy with the treatment I get at Long Subaru in Webster. They gave me exceptionally good pricing on replacing the headgaskets and clutch on my Legacy. Granted, I've been going there for a while and have given them a lot of business in the form of friends and neighbors, but I still think they're very good and fair.

If you call them for pricing, tell them I recommended you - the guys you want to talk to are either Dave Eastty or Mike "Taco" Jiminez. They're not $400 cheap but it's worth finding out what they'd charge.

Tell them Jeff with the silver '03 Legacy advised you to call.

Your water pump/t belt is not due till 105k miles. You have 20k which is a while to go.

Exeter is good however a dealership with prices to match. A great local Subaru independent is Scott Harlow(former service manager @ Exeter) who owns Scotty's Country Auto in Exeter NH.

Price that work around.
