Default Two 6MT BRZ Limiteds at Steve Lewis Subaru (MA)

I purchased my BRZ from this dealership and had a great experience, and recently spoke to my sales guy David Hanks who mentioned they have two 6MT BRZ Limiteds at the dealership, a red one and a black one. They also have a WRB inbound. If you go on their website and search new inventory you'll find the cars and the options/accessories. They are selling the cars for MSRP.

I had them ship my car from MA to GA and it only took 2 days for me to get it, they are experienced with out of state buyers and shipping if you are not local. I'd ask for David Hanks.

I have no affiliation with the dealership, just posting this to help out someone looking for a car.

I had my first oil change at Anchor Subaru in RI and they also have 2 limited 6MT, one red and one white. I had dealt with a sales guy there at one point and still have his card, Greg Washington 401-769-1199

I was in Oshkosh Wisconsin this weekend and Bergstrom Subaru had 2 also.

I'm started to think the BRZ isn't in that high of demand any more!!!!!

I think the second shipment to New England just arrived, the first shipment was mostly pre-orders but now those are probably filled so they will go out on the lots. Manchester Subaru has 2 limited in stock and 5 in transit. They keep their inventory updated here:

Our local dealer has had a red BRZ Limited out front next to the street for almost a week now. Asking $2k mark-up.

I just think that beyond the pre-orders people just aren't aware. Subaru isn't advertising as much as Scion.

I've been using autotrader.com to keep an eye on dealership inventory.

Don't waste your time with Steve Lewis. They wont let anyone (including their sales guys) even test drive these cars.

I have zero problem with that. Keeps the tire kickers and joy riders away.

You either want the car, or you don't. Ask someone who owns one for a ride and drive and see if it suits you.

Go to a Scion dealer if you want a test drive, most of them have a demo FR-S.

Because everyone knows someone with a BRZ?

God forbid there are people out there who don't know if they want a certain car or not before they drive it.

It's not a damn GTR, it's a freaking $25k Subaru.

This. I wouldn't ever buy a car they wouldn't let me test drive.

If you are serious about buying one they will let you test drive. I had no problem getting a test drive in one of the dealership cars before I bought mine, and I also made sure to specify that nobody could sit in, touch, or test drive mine other than the tech doing the PDI.

And if you drive it and don't want it, the dealership is stuck with a sports car with 20-30 miles on it. I would be pissed if there were over ten on mine when I bought it. The last thing somebody wants on their brand new car is to know that some other jackass already took it for a joyride.

I was going to say, if your money is legit and you're serious about the car then you can usually test drive. Usually this just means getting all your paperwork in order and getting approved. If they see that you CAN get the car, then I think you've earned the right to test drive one. These are SPORTS CARS, even if they're relatively cheap. They're rare and new.

Honestly, I've driven one, and they wouldn't be as impressive if the sales guy sitting next to you didn't let you have a little fun with the car, just saying. I drove my friend's and just did some quick shifts and turns which sold me enough since that's mostly when I enjoy about driving. If you can check out the FR-S first, then do it. Even our local dealership is allowing test drives of those. Otherwise I can't imagine many dealerships allowing test drives of the BRZ.

Mileage on a new car means more price negotiating on a car that already has little margin from a dealership perspective.

The $2k blip in price difference between the Scion and Subaru is enough to justify one being so exclusive as to not be test driven? It's a ****ing mid-$20k Japanese econobox.

It's that way with a lot of newer cars which are in demand. Nobody wants a car with 50 test drive miles on it...

When the WRX first came out I had a hard time test driving one, when the STi came out same crap. I went to a Pontaic dealership because I was interested in a Solstice GXP and they would only let me test drive the NA one.

I hate this attitude. This is a mildly powered sports car, that gets its ass kicked in the numbers department by just about every car on earth. Magazines will not sell it. This is a car completely sold based on feel and the driving experience. Not letting people drive it is like dating Jessica Alba and not getting to look at or touch her.

Just wait 6 months when the focus ST is available and the BRZ has more competition... they will let anybody drive it.

The hardest miles on the car are those first 4 done by the lot transfer boys during shipment (who are starting it up cold and racing it on and off the boat, then on and off the train then in an around the shipping lots)... and the PDI tech (who's out hooning the hell out of it to ensure everything is working right and because he loves a sports car as much as the next guy).

The idea that 50 test drive miles has any bearing on the car's actual worth is ridiculous.

It's not ridiculous when you're the one plunking down 25-30 grand. It's not a hype thing, it's a customer service thing. If I let everyone drive one who asked, we would have over 200 very harsh miles on every BRZ. The techs in our garage are almost all over 50 and don't care how fast or good handling the car is, they're concerned with getting the job done so they can move on to the next job. They care about paychecks, not joyriding.

And who gives a crap if it has only 200 hp, it's not meant to win races, it's meant to be fun to drive. If you want a fast straight line car, go buy a live axle mustang like the rest of the mouth breathers, you'll fit right in.

Right its ONLY selling point is that it is FUN TO DRIVE, but then you say, "OH no you cannot drive it unless you buy it". The sheer stupidity of that is astonishing.

It is not a Porsche, it is a Subaru. It is not some sacred object. The only thing that will sell this car is letting people experience it.

I have bought more new cars than most people have thought about. You cannot expect people to 'take your word for it' that it is fun to drive before you ask them to drop 25-30 thousand dollars on it. That is just idiotic.

You want people to give you their money without ever having experience the ONE thing that this car offers. The fun to drive factor.

I would laugh in your face and keep looking if you told me to buy it so I can see what it is like to drive. Then I would write SOA stating how the dealer would not let me experience the car that has been so Hyped up for the past year, and that I am suppose to take his word for it how good it is.

sorry, too many car dealers in this world to put up with such knuckle dragging mindsets.

To emphasis what I already posted, they have to separate the boys from the men. I've hung out at the local dealership and seen some boys come in asking for a test drive of a WRX or even STI. You look at them and think, "Really?" 98% of the time they're really not serious about purchasing the car. This is what makes it difficult to gauge which potential buyer IS actually serious about getting the car and not just wanting to joy-ride it themselves.

FYI, most dealerships are supposed to have a demo model in cases like this. It would behoove Subaru to give them ONLY BRZ Limiteds with automatic transmissions. Just show off the best of what they have to offer without worrying about wear and tear on the manual transmission (which not everyone wants or can drive anyways).

It is certainly a sacred object to those that buy it. And the fact that we've sold every one so far without a test drive, as well as countless wrx's and sti's would signify that people are willing to buy without a drive. If you want to see knuckle dragging, look at most of the people who come in asking to drive it. A test drive doesn't usually sell a car, ANY car, including Porsches. These cars have a strong enough word of mouth to sell on their own. If you think this is some cheap econobox, then I don't think this is the right car for you. No offense.

Not the right car for me. HAHA... too funny. It is the right car for me if my wallet says it is. You seem to take offense at the term econobox. You should not.

THE WRX and STI is a cheap econobox. But on steroids. I have owned several. Sorry to insult you, I am a huge subaru fan, but a hyped up impreza is not a luxury car. I happen to like econoboxes. The term econobox to you may have a negative connotation, but not to me. It is what I like in a car. They do not take themselves too seriously. They are fun and like to be driven. MS3, Focus ST, WRX, BRZ, all econoboxes. Too often people let cars own them. They put them on a pedestal and live their life around a car. That is not a very good subaru attitude. What we do not need is dealers perpetuating the myth that a 25k dollar car is somehow bigger than life and should be revered.

I love cars, I mean really love them, but at the end of the day they are just plastic and metal. They can be replaced. But they should be driven and enjoyed. If you can sell every car you have then fine, I am happy for you. In Houston I can pick which of 4 subaru dealers I want to go to. I do not know how many subaru dealers there are in Anchorage. But you definitely have a captive audience.

Back in 2006, I called one of the largest Subaru dealership in the SF Bay Area to try and get an appointment to test drive a WRX Wagon; the sales person I had on the phone told me he didn't have time for me and that he would only see me if I was going to actually buy the car .
I mentioned that I was pre-approved by my credit union. But that didn't seem to impress that sales guy .
Not only he didn't sell me the 2006 WRX Wagon that I currently own, but he also missed out in 2007 when I got a friend to buy a 2007 WRX Wagon (that I actually bought back from said friend in 2008) and he missed out again in 2010 when I got my wife to buy our 2011 Forester 2.5X.
All of this because he couldn't be bothered taking the time to let me test drive a car back in 2006. So, yeah, as SCRAPPY said, that attitude is sheer stupidity.
