WRX Clutch Replacement around Boston
Hey everyone,
Just moved to the Boston area, and I need a clutch replacement in my 2002 WRX. With DSG gone, can anyone recommend a shop that can do this at a good price? I have the parts already (Exedy replacement OEM clutch and ACT Streetlite flywheel), and am looking for a new shop to call home. Thanks in advance, Danny

My friend works at Import AutoWerks in Braintree. His STi limited is tuned by EFi Logics. You could call and ask if he can do a clutch swap. His name is Anthony.

I can do it for you. I am not a shop but I used to be the Head Tech at AJW Performance before they moved up to NH. I do work out of my garage now. PM me if you are interested.
However if you want a shop to do it I recommend Perry Tuned down in Tiverton RI. Jay Perry (ONE OF THE BEST TUNERS IN THE AREA) started a shop with his partner Craig down there. They do amazing work and have good pricing. |

Danny,
We can certainly help you out with this. We have been working with a lot of former DSG customers. Our location is in NH, a straight shot up 93. Most customers tell us they can make it here in 50min. Quote:

Thanks for the quick responses, everyone - feel free to PM me with details/prices, as well. The flywheel should arrive in a few days, at which point I'll set something up. |

I know of many Boston area members who make the drive and even tow their cars down to Wicked, and they will tell you it's worth it.
I'll just leave this here... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ovation+review |

I just got mine installed by these guys 2 weeks ago, primespeedtuning.com, I called them Thursday, they said bring it in on Saturday and by 4pm I was driving around. I'm very happy with the price and the service.
I also called a couple of other shops that were recommended to me by some of the older members on this forum that responded to my previous clutch thread and they seem to be pointing you in the same direction, which is great (thanks guys/gals), but my only issues were that the earliest I could bring my car in for service was May, 11th and the shops were a solid 1-2hr drive each way. Also $400 - $500 seems to be the going rate of most shops. One shop quoted me $725 for my clutch install LOL. Which ever route you decide to take, good luck! |

Wicked is good, I just had my car tuned there. At an hour and a half of a drive its a bit far for maintenance and things.
I've also been really happy with Alberto at Motive Auto Works up in Woburn. It's a much shorter drive and he does great work. Alberto's waiting room is pretty solid too, nice couch and a **** load of DVDs. I've nursed a hangover in both. The window at WI is pretty cool though. |

I called Wicked a few weeks ago, and they said about $400 in labor. The dealer I'm closer to in Natick MA quoted me almost twice that. I'm looking at replacing mine (read: having mine replaced) this summer.
Also, I would second others' praise of Wicked. They are worth the drive. My tune from them should have been a no brainer the moment I got my '07, but I didn't find out about them for a few months. |

He's a good guy who does great work, that is also inexpensive. He's in Brookline, nh, which is about 45 minutes from Boston. |

I can attest to the comfort of Wicked's couch. I've taken a nap on it a few times.

@ Wicked.
I have a 2002 Wrx that is in need of a clutch & flywheel swap as well (still has that really sweet clutch judder every morning). I don't mind making the drive down and will bring all the parts. Will I need to bring Trans fluid as well ( I use only extra-S)? Thanks in advance. |

St Louis today! almost back.
Yeah just give us a call. Depending on your setup it could be an adjustment problem. We stock extra-s for the people that insist on sticking with it. We also stock resurfaced stock flywheels if needed. Anyhow, we are open M-Sat 9-6 call anytime. Leave a VM if we dont pick up and we will call back. Wicked M@ |

I called in today to make an appointment for Saturday July 27th ( I will be traveling for work most of the next 6 weeks).
I would rather not order all the parts if a simple adjustment will take care of the judder. I am pretty stock besides a stage 1 tune from Brenntunning in Worcester, cat-less up-pipe, and AGXs on all 4 corners. I would be fine making the drive down whenever you guys have some free time. I could also take care of the steering rack bushing while I'm there and maybe a rear brake job to make it all worth it gas wise. What is your recommendation? Thanks in advance |
