Been there done that!
My EJ255 lasted 126K and gave me 150psi compression and 10,10,10,5% leak down, so I figured it's worth a try to make big VF power or bust. I then pushed it a bit too hard after a Junior E85 tune making 450 WTQ & 360 WHP. My stock STI clutch hated it anyway. Not that Juniors tune was bad, I'm not saying that at all but you gotta pay to play as the saying goes |

I've got a Dom 3.5xtr on my MPS motor and it feels very quick spooling on my breakin map. Can't wait to tune it with Junior on the 17th! In keeping with this thread I'm keeping one of my VF48s with the PnPd & welded WG hot side to put back on my XTI at some point. I think it will be fun! We will see.

It has been 11's or bust since I started with this car last year. Once that is in the books I am going after JR's 11.4 on E85 record. |

11.6@116 mph, best MPH is around 118.. Backed up the pass 4-5 times as well. I think a new thread will be made.
Congrats Mr. Warned! |

...and threads like this is why I picked myself up a VF48! Other than a built bottom end, mods will be similar for pump gas. I may ping JR as well to set me up once I get this installed. If I can crack 300 that would make my happy. And over 400tq must be neck snapping.

How do you make 100 more ft-lbs than everyone else? That's not a minor feat and seems, well, unbelievable. I don't know where it comes from for 23psi on 93 octane. At the same time your HP is normal as that is just an air flow limit of the turbo. I just don't get how you get the torque without a significant bump in displacement or boost. I would expect north of 30psi to see that kind of torque number or an engine around 3.0L running 23psi to generate that kind of torque number. I can only scale to what I've seen from my own vehicle though. I've done 23psi on 93 octane and E85 also. I just can't fathom the combustion chamber difference to support 400 wheel torque. I mean all you can add is timing, and that won't net you 100 ft-lbs alone. You're still stuck with the same amount of burnable product that everyone else is only making 300 ft-lbs with.
I don't know. It confuses me. I could say it's lower friction losses, but your HP is normal. I don't know how you get significantly more air/fuel into the combustion chamber and likely a lot more timing without knock at similar parts and psi as other people. Junior knows his stuff though. I just can't fathom the trickery he's doing to make that kind of torque without significantly more displacement or boost. I mean we're not talking 10-20 ft-lbs here. 100 ft-lbs is huge. Whatever Junior's doing, it's crazy good. I just don't know what everyone else is doing wrong. |
