Tire looking flat but pressure is OK?
My front tires look like they are running a little flat. I checked the tire pressure and its fine. I'm running the stock re-92's at the recommended psi. What does this mean?
...please say I need new tires

Are you on a curb or anything? If the car is loaded more to one side than the other it will compress the tire somewhat.

I'm not on a curb or on any sort of decline. I don't have anything in my car either.

Verify your tire guage is correct. Most of the steel pencil type are not all that accurate. edit> And NEVER, EVER trust the pressure gauges at the corner gas station.
If it is, you just need to recalibrate your eyeballs. (or give yourself permission to go for the new shoes... ) have fun. mch. Last edited by mch; 04-24-2003 at 09:13 AM. |

yeh, dont trust your eyes, get a decent tire pressure guage.
also, measure tire pressure when the tire is cold (mornings). |

It's normal for tires to look a little flat. It won't hurt them to add a few lbs above what is recommended; I find the car handles better when I do that.

Before work today i bought a nice tire pressure gauge. My pen gauge said i had 32 psi, the new gauge says 29 psi. I'll be taking care of this later. Thank you all for your help!

The manufacture recomended PSI is crap, pure and simple. Just look at what happened with Ford and Firestone, ford recommended too low of tire pressures combined with crappy firestone tires which caused the tires to explode.
Run your PSI to where the car HANDLES well not to where it feels comfy and definatly not to where the manufacture recomends them. Try 38 PSI all around and see how you like it. |

yep, i would recommend playing with tire pressure from
30-38psi and finding the medium between comfort and handling. the RE92's work better at higher pressure, no doubt... i donno about 40 though...sounds pretty high. |

I've been happiest with my re92's when they were about 36-38 in the front and 34-36 in the rear. It takes a bit of the mush out of them, and they'll handle better.

I can't believe that people hold on to RE-92's with such a death grip!
To me, they are/were like a burnt match. Useless. |
