Yea, went in 2002, It is grate, they changed the order of the stages last year. but yes they take Euro's in germany, dont know about Lux. Greate place for rally, stay in Treir really cool "OLD TOWN" (something like 2000 years) If you go to any of the Baumholder stages, you must goto the "GINA CREST" It is a killer jump, Rent a car because you will need it the stages are all like a 1/2 hour from Treir, plus if you have not driven in Germany you owe it to yourself also be prepared to drink a lot of cheap but good (like 1 euro a bottle) German Beer, and eat a lot of Vistverst (killer german sausage) Beer trucks and Sausage venders are everywhere All and All I hade a blast at the Rally Deutschland and I'm sure you will to. p.s. If you like F-1 SPA and Nurbergring arnt very far from Treir.

Thanks man,
Luxembourg is the closest airport to Trier. Colonge is a ways away. Cool. I got a Ford Focus 3dr hatch. But then again, that will change when I get there. I'm planning to stay from the 18th-24th. Not much of a F1 fan, but I will jaunt to Cologne or Dusseldorf to see the sights. What kind of accomodation? Private rooms rented out? I'm planning on using the tourist board. Worked pretty well in Sweden. |

Deutschland is a great event ...
but a few pieces of advice... - Learn as much german as you can - there is NOT a lot of english spoken in the area. - look at staying in some of the MANY small towns around the area. you can find 'pensions' (bed and breakfasts) in the surrounding vinyards and villages. - be prepared to WALK ... spectator parking will leave you with still significant distances to get to the stages. Stage security is TIGHT and the parking is not close - particularly in Baumholder. The Gina Jump is worth the trek and at times you might think the cars never touch the ground ... Spectator parking for the service park is at LEAST 3Km away as I recall. Trier is a great little city, but finding an internet cafe was not the easiest thing to do last year. Euro is the currency of almost ALL of europe now. And Luxembourg is definately the place to fly through ... about a half hour or 40 min from Trier. ENJOY the trip!... be prepared ... the focus (or any rental) will likely be a turbo-diesel ... but they go good!! |

We rented an Opel Astra 1.6 and it was a blast!! I did 125mph no problem, though you might want to take out a small loan to pay for gas, it cost like 60$us to fill the tank! |

Yep, tourist board it is. I'm going to sit down tomorrow and line some places up. 3km aint bad for a walk. Granberget in Sweden was at least 2-3km. Thanks Pua. |
