That's actually fairly quick! Call the dealer today or tomorrow, maybe it will come in early like mine did!

Ugh!! I heard about crazy back-orders things srping but I was under the impression it was residual from the tsunami and had cleared up. Back then people were at least getting credits for $500 in accessories... any word if at least that promotion is still happening?

The frustrating thing is that the other dealer in town has a very similar 2012, but when I was there a few months ago I was pretty turned off by how they treated me (seemed to rush me out wouldn't let me test drive a WRX because I told him I "wasn't sure" if I wanted it or not). Google reviews for these dealers show that others have similar experience so I really want to keep my order where it is.

Ugh. Maybe they can do a trade or something. I'll find out Monday.
Here's my follow-up to this:

Good news! My car has arrived . I got the good news last Monday but I've been vacationing and won't be able to pick it up until Tuesday. Anyone in the central florida area want to test drive it for me?

To recap:
Ordered from Mastro Subaru in Orlando, Florida. Impreza Sport Premium, MBP, with cargo tray, rear seat protector, rear bumper applique, and auto dimming compass with homelink.

Ordered: 9/1/12
VIN Received: 10/27/12
Delivery: 11/19/12

I'm really excited, can't wait to get home now! I still have to sort out all of the financing, hopefully that goes well. Funny it never came up in the ordering process.... :-\

Also, I emailed SOA about the delay and asked for a $500 accessories credit, instead they offered me a $250 discount which I'm accepting.

Quote:
Dear Mr. Ellis,

Thank you for your patience.

Once you take delivery of your new Impreza, I am happy to offer you some goodwill assistance. This is our way of saying thank you for your patience.

I would like to extend $250.00, which can be applied towards the purchase of your vehicle.

This offer is separate from any offers presently being advertised by Subaru of America, Inc. or any incentives offered by your Subaru dealer. This offer is being made entirely as a gesture of goodwill to maintain customer satisfaction.

In order to take advantage of this offer, please send me a copy of your buyers order and I'll send the request to our Accounting department for their processing.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best wishes,

Was the dealership able to install it? The WRX used to come with different wiring set-ups which made it a pain.

Start of my 16th week since placing order, Premium, 5sp, Hatchback, no options. I've been in contact with my dealer and SOA, pleasantly probing as to what specifically is happening with my order. I've called and emailed, and this is the most specific information I have gotten so far, although it doesn't tell me much.
From SOA: Thank you for taking the time to contact Subaru of America, Inc. and for your order of a Dark Gray Metallic 2013 Impreza 2.0i Premium 5-door with manual transmission.

Your order has been received. You are correct that the ETA is showing as On Hold. Even with orders that are On Hold, the orders are still received and the vehicles are being built. I have set a follow-up for next Friday, the 7th to check on your order. I will be back in touch again on that day.

The supply of 2013 Impreza, WRX and WRX STI models is low. The demand is high. Subaru dealers are allocated specific amounts of 2013 Impreza, WRX and WRX STI models. If a dealer has received their allotment of 2013 Impreza, WRX and WRX STI models and place additional orders, the orders above their current allocation are put On Hold. Once the dealer is allocated more Impreza, WRX and WRX STI models, the On Hold orders are removed from the On Hold status.

Thank you for your feedback on this situation. Your message has been documented in our Customer/Dealer Services database. This will allow for your message to be properly reviewed, tracked and considered by our Sales and Marketing Departments. Subaru is always striving to improve as an organization and appreciates when our customers bring their experiences and concerns to our attention.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of service. I will be back in touch again next Friday, Richard.
I'm calling SOA this morning to clarify the "allocation" and "hold" situation, since my understanding from the dealer was that my order was put in at the top of the list because the 2012 I ordered was a problem.

I'm getting bit worried, I too ordered 5mt model with ISM+ popular package. for me it's only beginning of wk3..but still

btw, if you don't mind color, puyallup, WA is getting a white sport premium with 5mt (currently it saids in transit, I ask them and they told me eta around mid december)

I'm skeptical that this is the whole story. This says that if you buy from a dealer that sells more than it's allocation, your order goes into limbo. Order the same car from another dealer, and your car goes right into the production queue.

Allocation limits make sense for cars heading to the lot, but not for cars with a down payment.

I am having the exact same issue ordered 8/9/12 and no VIN, order is on hold as well as 7 other orders at my dealership. I would have ordered from a bigger dealership had I known it was going to take this long!

I also ordered from the same area the other guy did, but from a different dealership. By the way this is going I'm thinking I will win the award for longest wait for their 13'. I'm going to call again next Monday or so for updates, but so far not so good. SoA and my dealership cannot give me any sort of time frame other than it will show up eventually. If I had another idea of where to spend my money I think I'd be done waiting by end of Dec. Just wanting a VIN, cuz I know I will have to wait another 3-4 weeks after that!!

I ordered a DGM Sport 5sp on September 10th and was told that the car would be here in 6-8 weeks. I am now on week 11 and the car is still showing as "on hold" whatever that means. The dealer is now saying December, but they were also the ones that said 6-8 weeks. I emailed Subaru and they tried to give me an economics lesson about supply and demand and then told me the dealer had reached their allocation and never gave me any real answers of when my car would arrive. I am sick of the vague answers from my dealer and Subaru and I am seriously considering getting another car and it won't be a Subaru.

Sorry to hear that your dealer isn't helping you but I received mine about the average that memebers posted on here. I've had it for a few days and love it. This is my 3rd Subaru and the others I've owned for over 10 years each. Some poster said that special orders don't count into their allocation, but I don't know. If you don't like your dealer, try others or email SOA. 2013 Subaru Impreza rocks!!

The wait ends now. Current mileage 107miles through snow, slush, and sleet
Sales guys and mechanics were all laughing when I started changing out
all the stuff on the car. Did everything on the lot except the battery and tires that i did at a shop 1 mile away. Save fuel trim with computer memory saver and reprogrammed auto up and down on mirror. Next up tints,
headlight armour yellow fog lights then full claybar, sealant and wax.
At 1k i will put in the touch screen headunit and backup camera.

Items for sale: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...4#post38583464

I'm curious, why'd you change out the battery immediately? Also, what did you change out at the dealer? Do you have a link to the computer memory saver, or is it just a usb flash drive?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm still waiting to pick mine up... So anxious!

Subaru already admitted to massive delays earlier this month. (see cars101.com for the quote.) I'm not saying its fair to you or anyone else, but you're in for a wait if you don't find your car on the lot of ANY dealer. From my experience I'd expect you to get your vin within 1-3 weeks, and your car shortly after. I'd say you'll probably have it before Christmas. Hang in there if you can. I was VERY frustrated as well, and my persistence has paid off. I kept contacting the dealer, and/or SoA pretty much daily until I got a vin. In the meantime I also got SoA to agree to give me a $500 credit. I'd see if they can swing the same for you. It may not be worth it for everyone to put up with the wait on an order, but that is the current reality of ALL custom ordered Subarus right now.

Good luck to all still waiting!

Changed wipers. Engine filter put in weather beaters added front license plate holder Drove 1 mi to tire shop put on snow tires and alignment during shipping cars can go out of alignment when they lock them onto truck changed battery since oem is only 330 cca walmart sells computer memory saver you plug it into the power port aka cigarette lighter port attach 9v to keeper turn off internal lights. Turn key to first position so cars clock is on Device will stop computer from losing ram memory which saves you from having to have the car relearn fuel trim which can take up to an hour. Change battery Some oddities reported after battery change is car stumbles and cuts off at 5mph. Fuel economy drops off a cliff etc. if you don't have the memory saver you have to make sure car is fully discharged then turn it over and don't stop until the car starts up. Run car for like 20 mins then turn on ac and run it as well. After battery change horns might beep so use key fob to reset alarm system. You also loose auto window up and down so you have to reenable it.

Bigger battery helps in cold weather turn overs
Plus battery is only 100 cheap if you ask me

I'm almost at 4 months waiting with my car still on hold. The free credits and other stuff they are offering is nice, but not knowing a time-frame is frustrating. The fact that I was one of the first to order and because my dealer reached their allotment and I will have to wait until they are allowed more is ridiculous. So in the mean time I am just researching other options cuz even when I do get this car I might have a bad taste for it from all this. So far the only other option I can think of might be a 2014 Mazda 6. Dealers are supposed to be getting them in January and while its a fwd after driving a CX-5 I really liked the way they drive. The Mazda 3 would be an option for me if it wasn't so small and ugly. I'm waiting for the LA Auto show (29th-30th of November) that will show the new and up coming cars. While I hope the Impreza comes in and makes me happy, this whole experience of buying a new car has left me disappointed, frustrated and annoyed. I feel like my order was dropped off in a deep dark hole and no one really cares about it, not to mention SoA themselves cannot help or give specific answers to my questions. Again hopefully this changes but as we near December and I was told a October delivery date, then a November date, and now a possible December date I can't help get the feeling I'm being strung along.

/rant lol

+ I'm guessing the wiper blades are a preference thing?
+ I'm guessing the engine filter improves gas mileage a bit.
+ Weather beaters and license plate bracket are a must for me as well.
+ Snow tires and alignment make sense in states with snow in the winter (myself included). I'll probably be looking into them as well.
+ Battery isn't a huge problem for me. Probably going to buy the extended warranty and it doesn't ever get TOO cold where I currently live.
+ Computer memory saver... Makes complete sense from what you've said above... Is this what I'd need? Schumacher Electric INC 12V OBD-Memory Saver Adapter Cable

when you get extended warranty, could you please share price with me?

I'm going to get gold plus plant when I get the car and I want to see how much other people are paying for extended warranty so I won't get ripped off by dealer

I can tell you right now.
I called ROTO Subaru and got some quotes today for the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty.
$100 deductibe- $620
$50 deductible - $680
$0 deductible - $770

I didn't enquire about other pricing, but needless to say I'm expecting Grand Subaru to beat those prices or I'll buy my warranty through ROTO.

If you want to get a decent deal, do what I did and call up a different dealer from your own and get pricing on the warranty you're interested in. They have more incentive to lower their prices to earn your business. Then you can take those numbers back to your dealer and work out a deal knowing what you can get elsewhere.

Quick question: How long do you have to decide on buying the warranty? Is it a one-time offer right when you buy your car, or do you have some time to drive your car and think about it?

I'm not sure. I'll try to find out if someone else doesn't respond first.

That some great pricing on an extended warranty.... We bought my sisters cars this past weekend and purchased the 7-yr/100k Gold ($0-deductble) for $1465, MSRP is $2522.

We considered the 7/70 and were quoted $1000, MSRP is $1620.
