Well I won't ream you but what kind of breakin was that? You should do 1k on dino with light boost then change to synthetic and finsh tuning. If it locked up How could you trust it if it did work again? I think I would do another motor. What was your cost last time? I had one lose a cam seal and lose all the oil so I builty a new motor. You could try to save it but I wouldn't. Build it right, break it in right, Then run the crap out of it. You messed the order up. Now you should start over.

Honestly i would just search out a used motor to drop in. If you order a new 2.5 short block thats 2 grand right there...plus the cost of machining your heads, all the new gaskets and belts...labor for installing new engine and for ripping it all apart...

If you rebuild it its probably gonna be 3-5k. Or search for a used complete engine and just drop it in(search ebay or something).

Are you doing the rebuild work yourself or are you having it done somewhere? The reason I ask is because the $$ figures will differ greatly.

You're right, 2K is too low. If the motor is oil starved and locked up, it will be in the 5K range.
