I contacted soa a week ago via email about the wait issue and to see if they would compensate me for my troubles, they didn't. They also could not locate my car via von which is hillarious since when i call them I can get info on the car. I would say if you didn't want to wait you could jump on a crosstrek or an outback. The forester is being replaced so the new model will get a nice mpg jump in comparison with the current ones. If mpg is a strong factor then you would still have to wait. Also the new forester will be cvt not 4speed auto so there will be a difference in feel. The wait can work to your advantage as you can gear up on stuff needed for car.

There's plenty more of them available and I'm sure you could get a good price given your situation.

You, Max, should call SoA and tell someone your story. Be patient and polite (I was) and ask them to give you a credit for your troubles and ridiculous wait time. I got $500, I think that's the least they should do for you in your situation. I have no idea why I'd be getting my car before you, seeing as I'm in the midwest and you're on the west coast. I keep checking cars.com and my dealers website every day. I see a few (12-14) 2013 5MT MBP (hatches) premiums/sport premiums around the country on cars.com. My Impreza has yet to appear on the dealers wbesite, but that's not really that important. I think I'll be waiting until the 26th, which is fine with me now that I have a car instead of a bicycle!
The forester is getting redesigned for 2014 so I would most likely wait for that. MPG is a big factor in my decision as well as the awd. I drove the CX-5 yesterday and I like it, however it would put me into a SUV and I don't want a bigger vehicle. I prefer to zip around and have an easy time parking. Plus the CX-5 would cost me more $$ by up to 5-7k (roughly).

I'm going to call my dealer again and tell him I'm just going to wait for it. I called SoA 2 weeks ago and they will be cutting me a check like they are u to help compensate for my time. There are just no other good cars out there that have awd and cost the same. The Mazda 3 is okay but again is fwd and I personally think it looks hideous.

So more waiting, sure hope I get a date soon.

MPG is a big factor. I don't mind the XV but in a manual the mpg is lower than my Impreza manual. Everything else out there seems to either cost more or sacrifice awd or mpg. I'm just going to try and hold my patience wait until Dec 1st and hopefully get new info. I'm over 3 months into this I sure hope I don't have longer but orders like mine being on hold is laughable. Hasn't it been on hold for 3+ months? They just now noticed, lol. Oh well. I can afford to wait so wait I shall.

Also I asked for a credit and got one (getting a check when the car gets here). You might try asking for free accessories if they won't give you credit.

i actually asked for the free accessory and they were complete pains about it so I will just get the thing myself. I told them that if this was how they treat customers they are in for a rude awakening because I don't care about a piece of plastic that I could simply purchase on my own. Also informed them that I would file a complaint for not properly looking up my von and for sending me a form email instead of reading my email. I get irritated when customer service reps try to handle me, I asked a question simply answer it and if you do not know how just say so, don't give me the run around.

On a side note, the red 2013 imp just reached 5k so I changed engine filter to kn and had the car washed and applied sealant to headlights to prevent hazing. I need to have it claybared, sealed, and waxed before winter, also waiting on the headlight armour for fogs to arrive so will slap those on. winter tires also showed up last week now I have 8 tires sitting in spare bedroom Not to say anything but I hope old man winter is severe this year I missed my snow last year.

YAY!! I am picking mine up tonight!

Technically, it's not mine. Someone who ordered almost the same exact config as me canceled their order and got a different color, and that original order arrived yesterday afternoon. The salesperson emailed me immediately that he had no new status on my VON but that they would hold this for me if I wanted to go in and take it instead.

The only difference is that this "new" one has navigation/rear camera (which I opted out of) versus rear spoiler, which I originally selected. I'll take the difference! They honored VIP pricing on it so it was a done deal.

It's a White Sport Limited with moonroof and nav and popular package. Original order was sometime in the summer, so I'd assume it was a day 1 order on 08/15.

Just picked up my 2013 Impreza Sport Limited last night! My dealer happened to have exactly the car I would have ordered come in last Friday morning! I kind of have a thing for DGM!

I'm jealous of all you guys getting your cars in, but glad that people are getting their cars! It gives me hope that I will get mine sooner than later. Still seems like the CVTs are coming in before the 5MTs but I'm sure the CVTs are more popular.

Have fun driving them!

She's a beaut! I have the same car coming in as you got.

My dealer had said a few weeks ago that I was looking at a December delivery. I just got an email saying that Subaru told them it would be in "anytime". I asked for clarification and am waiting to hear back. Crossing my fingers!

Yes it is! My first purchase from them was my 2011 STI. The 2013 is my second purchase. In the meantime, I have directly sold 8 other cars for them since April 2011.

Man, I really hope that you get your car soon. Here in the Bay Area, inventory has been tight just like the rest of the U.S. I just started getting emails again from dealers saying that "Limited Amount" of 2013's have come in. I finally got my VIN (order placed 09/03) with pick up in 2 weeks. Stay on top of your dealer folks! They are dribbling in and most likely order cancellations will happen

The SOA order situation is totally absurd and frustrating. I ordered an Impreza Premium, Manual, no options, on 8/14/12. I've been in touch with the dealer, and made periodic calls to SOA to get some idea what exactly is happening with the order. The most information anyone could provide was "car shows November delivery", although not anymore specific than that. Yesterday, I received an email from my dealer, saying the car order is now showing "Hold". The salesperson tried to explain that SOA had changed the way they allocate orders and this has something to do with what the dealers "produce". I'm afraid I didn't understand. I called SOA this morning, and they said they don't know anything, and so they called the sales manager at the dealership? SOA calls me back, and says basically, on one knows anything about the car. The SOA representative couldn't tell me what placing the order on "hold" meant, and he also commented that probably the car wasn't built yet. Everyone has been polite and courteous, but it is amazing that no one has any specific information. If there was another similar car option out there, I'd definitely be leaving Subaru. They certainly have built no loyalty from me, just the opposite.

Order update: my ship has come in
Car is in port so not long now before I pick her up, on target for december. Arrived at ny/nj port, I am guessing anyone with mtl orders for this area will be very happy for christmas. hopefully they can slap on my front underspoiler since I added that last minute. Second Order date 9/28/2012. If at first you don't succeed try try try again. They know winter is coming and new englanders need their cars, sandy had no effect on ship arrival date, luckily. Wait time 4 months.

I have exactly the same issue in Spokane, WA (Appleway Subaru Dealer). Dealer and SoA both say my order is on hold but no exact reason why. I did call SoA again today and at this point they are willing to compensate me for my wait based on the time of arrival for my car. As some know I ordered 8/9/12. So the longer I have to wait the more the compensation I would be allowed (At least I get something for my troubles and its very nice and professional for them to do that). SoA said they will figure out compensation when I get a VIN with delivery date. Compensation will be in the form of either paying for accessories or letting me add accessories (I don't have) on at no charge. So while it's not ideal and the SoA person said I might have to wait until December and perhaps January they will make it right.

My suggestion for anyone else in my situation is to call SoA, be polite and ask for the same compensation. SoA as most know are now telling dealers 16 weeks of waiting until car hits port. They told us guys in the start closer to 6-10 weeks like they did me. I've waited a total of 14 weeks so far. Hopefully my car comes in soon!

I think I ordered same thing as yours except for maybe color and few more accessories, I hope this doesn't happen to me.. as I was told to wait 16 wks.. and I don't want to wait extra day or two for a car.

when you find out why your car was on hold, please share

btw, why don't they offer cash compensation? then you could put more for deposit

Yup I will update when I know something. Not sure why they are only compensating the way they are I'm just glad they are doing something and not just saying "tough **** just deal with it". From my understanding I will be cut a check upon purchase of the car so that the money can go towards the car, specifically the accessories.

Honestly if you are not good waiting even if its a day or two after the time frame they tell you I would back out sooner than later. Not trying to discourage anyone but the dates they give you are not set in stone and are subject to change. That and many people are getting there cars after or at the end of the date they are told and definitely not at the earliest time frame.

from reading this forum, I'm willing to wait till march.. maybe even until may..
who knows I might get a car for my bday which is in may.. lol

but after march, if i don't get car, I'm gonna raise hell for that matter. since I'm getting some accessories (so called popular package), I'll tell them for cash compensation so I can put it in for deposit
