Official Press Release From Cobb Tuning

Salt Lake City, Utah, October 29, 2006 - Today Cobb Tuning, Inc. announced the release of the completely redesigned AccessPORT***8482; handheld programmer and software for Subaru vehicles with planned support for Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mazda, and Toyota vehicles in the future.

Trey Cobb, CEO of Cobb Tuning, Inc. said, "Today's release of the new AccessPORT represents a revolutionary step forward for handheld ECU reprogrammers. With next-generation features and design along with Cobb Tuning's unique on-the-fly tuning technology, the new AccessPORT is another example of the well-engineered products Cobb Tuning is dedicated to provide its customers."

The AccessPORT by Cobb Tuning, Inc. is a handheld programmer that allows you to unlock your vehicle's hidden potential by reprogramming the stock Engine Control Unit (ECU). Performance tuning data is uploaded to the ECU via the OBD-2 diagnostic port in a matter of minutes, and requires no cutting, wiring, or other such modifications. Unique to the AccessPORT is the ability to change tuning data on-the-fly without having to completely reprogram the ECU. This technology allows the AccessPORT to get the most performance out of your vehicle in the least amount of time.

Using off-the-shelf staged tuning maps along with the appropriate vehicle modifications, the AccessPORT users can see power gains in excess of 50HP. Better yet, the AccessPORT truly unlocks the ability to extract a vehicle's peak potential through custom tuning for any level of modification.

The AccessPORT's features include:
***8226; On-the-fly map switching
***8226; Monitor vehicle sensor data and display in analog or digital format
***8226; Vibrant color graphic display with First-Ever full 260,000 color OLED, high-resolution screen
***8226; Read/Clear engine trouble codes
***8226; Preloaded with performance, economy and convenience maps
***8226; Update via the Internet
***8226; Measure 0-60 and ***188; mile times
***8226; Adjustable on-screen Shift Light functionality
***8226; Estimates horsepower and torque
***8226; Displays current and averaged fuel economy
***8226; Drag race simulation with reaction time and "time slip" data
***8226; Built in on-screen help mode function
***8226; Multi-Language support
***8226; RoHS compliant (Lead Free design)
***8226; Custom performance tuning for your specific vehicle and modifications as provided by an authorized AccessPORT ProTUNER***8482; center, or upgrade to the StreetTUNER***8482; software package for do-it-yourself tuning

"Price is set at $695 across the board for all models. Supposedly it'll have some other features too, such as USB interface (no more of the hard to find serial ports), storage for an unlimited amount of maps, faster "flashing" times, ability of auto updates, and probably the coolest feature is the "recovery" mode. It'll allow the user to recover if the AP is accidentally unplugged during transfer."

So yeah where will it get mounted? With that many real time features It would need to have a home in the car. Id hate to have to drape the cord around the collumn, try not to kick the connector out and try to read boost from the cupholder like the old brick.

I'm getting one anyway tho (someday).

That whisteling sound you hear is the re-sale value of the current model plummeting... I knew I should have sold mine when I had the chance.

I'm still patiently waiting for the NA version, or at least details on it. I sure hope they come out with it, and it's actually useful.

Yep, this will definitely drop the value of our current APs. Still, as long as the Protuner shops will support the old version, I don't have much motivation to go buy the new flashy model.

It would be a pretty expensive shift light.

I don't think we need a new AP for your car until we replace it or see if we get a deal buying two when I need one.

obviously, i wouldn't need the new one until i replaced the current LGT. AP is engine, year, and tranny specific.

I believe it is. Ask IMABRAT or 03bluwrx what they paid for theirs. I was talking to parts about that purchase and they said they made nothing on the sale.
