Unhappy keeping a level head

what do you guys do to keep a level head when you've been working on your car for well over an expected period of time?

like when there's that ONE bolt or nut...

or if there's less than a mm of space keeping you from something?

when your patience is just gone and you have to put the wrench down?

when it's a two man job and no one can help?

when you start breaking things when you're only trying to fix things?

I leave the garage, down 2-3 beers, then go back into the garage with:
1) less concern for perfection
2) less self-control when it comes to hammering something into place

It usually works itself out

I just walk away from the car, let out all of my fury and vengeance on a nearby inanimate object, sit down, drink a beer. Come back to the situation about an hour later and look at things from a fresh point of view.

see the key is to not let it build up. I do this by telling the bolt/coil to go **** itself several times a minute.

This makes me feel better.

Well, beer seems to be the best answer. It helps numb the cuts and scratches that your hands tend to accumulate too.

I just had that problem getting the crank bolt off my 91 CRX (dx....there's no hex fitting, so shut it, honda guys)

My impact gun didn't do it.
I bought a bigger gun....950 pound/feet.
Still didn't get it.

Put it all back together and decided that if it blows up from a broken timing belt, I'll put an integra B18 into it......

If the car was a keeper, I'd bring it to my mechanic and have him break it loose, then finish the job.

there's this one nut on the bottom of the DP to turbo that i can't get a wrench on a have room to turn it. i have no clue how i got the DP off to begin with. i just did it. i've done it a dozen times. i have no clue why it's so difficult this time.

i've taken the dump of the EWG off and am about to take the entire EWG off to get even more room. this makes no sense. ...where's my beer.

Hahahah you need to take a break, make a beer run, pick up a can of liquid wrench while you're out. Come back, spray the liquid wrench errrrywhere, shotgun a beer, then get back to work hahah

what baffles me is i took of the exhaust, dropped the trans, and replaced the clutch and fly... put everything back together... and now i'm hung up on one nut. it just blows my mind. but i know that the nature of this. one does not simply modify a car without breaking something.

When these things happen, I'm very glad I have a spare car so I can walk away and leave the stupid idiot thing sitting all broken in the garage.

on my first saturn I turbocharged I couldn't get the crank pulley off to get 1 oil pan bolt out. So I cut the oil pan bolt off with a sawzall. Ironically it never leaked even though it was missing that bolt.

Beer is nearly always the answer.

But seriously, coming from an RX 8(motor is pretty much in the firewall, spark plugs underneath the car, oil filter mounted upside-down behind the motor) I just walk away when i get frustrated. I seem to always have at least 1 thing go wrong when I'm working on a project so I just expect for it and have a steady stock of beer.
