Default newish 6mt n/t

First id like to help finish this thread off by mentioning the deference in the late model case design....its changed in the 5mt.
I have a few pics I cant get at right now....however the newer late model
6mt n/t not the sti trans...the 6 speeed manual in non turbo late models
again pics would help ..the cases are hugely beefier. The internals share some of the 5mts but for the most part make more sense..better synchros balk rings, fatter center diff...helical reverse gears very simillar to the sti.
Once I get a chance i will post some pics...i may need a reminder...or maybe someone already has. Why they are not being used in the wrx...
I can see a version of this unit going in and even replacing the 5 mt altogether...yup i am going on a limb making that assumption..but things change...i dont have esp or a secret informant...time will tell this post will be here when it does and i can get a cookie

They probably were designed for a lower torque application. The turbo having more torque can pull through wider spaced gear ratios where the na motor needs the closer spaced gear ratios to perform better. Just my guess. When this tranny first came out the first thing I thought about was 6 thinner gears to fit in the same space as 5 gears.

Well good points...I will check the gear size and tooth count. The late model sti's have ratios closer than older ones?...especially 3-4 ,5 is the same as its always been...in the sti.
Also the 6 non turbo has a reverse lockout like the sti..worth mentioning...just googled it you can read and see the blueprint on this link.
