2011 wrx catless
Hi
I have installed a catless DP on my 2011 WRX,stock exhaust, with Cobb AP Stage 2 91 I have read many threads explaining that boost creep can be a real concern. What would be the proper parameters to monitor with the AP in real time? Also could you please provide some numbers as when I should be concerned? I don't have a stand alone boost gauge as of now. Thanks |

I don't think its the best idea to run cobb's ots map with a catless dp
I think if you see anything in the 20s you should probably let off the gas though..lol |

Hi
Ok thanks for that. I was saw 18.5 and that was hitting it pretty hard, but not for long though. I guess smacking it in 3rd for say 20 seconds or so should give me somwhere near the max reading, or would I be better in another gear? Weather plays a role too I understand? Thanks |

i dont really know man, I also have a catless dp, I haven't seen any crazy numbers yet, but supposedly its worse in the cold. What is your max boost supposed to be?
torqued performance stage 2 is 19, i think cobb is a bit more conservative |

Hi
OK those numbers seem to be ok then @ 18.5 I get mostly 18.3 smacking it around in short course, but hit 18.5 in long. Its lots of fun now though have to admit. At first I was kind of oh ok but in the twisties its really freakin quick Regardless I'm gonna keep an eye on it for some time to come yet. Funny as I can't really hear the turbo, must be my old man ears? |

yeah all that stuff is right...u hear the turbo more and at first it doesnt seem like a big deal then u push the car a little and u realize there is just a lot more substance than there was before

Third gear pulls are the best IMHO.

The stock ECU has compensation tables for air temperature and will reduce WGDC accordingly for colder temps. Cobb does change the compensation tables, but again those expect a high flow cat on the DP. Going catless in cold weather with Cobb OTS Stage 2 map will exacerbate high boost problem. As PearlRex11 said, just be extra careful in the cold weather if you want to stay with the Cobb map.
You are far away from throwing an overboost code, so you should be fine. Changing other things like the top mount IC and pulley will throw a code real quick on Stage 2 cobb map. I would recommend a stage 2 tune from Torqued Performance. He can adjust the map specifically for a catless DP easily. Once you start doing other mods then a protune on a dyno is ideal. |

i think I may have caused sort of creep today. 4th gear going up hill, needle was going back and forth between 19 and 20 and it made a fluttery sound. Couldn't replicate it, I think just don't do dumb things like floor it up a hill at low rpms in a high gear

That's kinda how I got boost creep. As soon as I flashed stage 2 (catless dp with cobb ots map) I was trying to make sure it would hit target boost so I floored it in 4th then it just kept climbing to like 23 psi and threw a CEL. So I didn't do that again lol

Catless smell is pretty bad
Hi
Sort of regretting going catless due to the smell, much worse than I anticipated and there is not a thing I can do about it. Catless pipe for sale next year. |

My coworker has a catless evo and I must say it is quite harsh. But my hi flow cat smells like a go cart or a lawn mower. Lol or a two stroke.

Rather than selling your Catless pipe for a loss then paying more for a new one. Go to an exhaust shop. they can take your catless DP and cut in a cat for much cheaper than loosing money on your catless and buying a new catted one.

Hi
I wondered about that! Thanks I will consider that option. If i decide to go that route where would be the best placement, up top or down below.I would assume up top but I'm just a noob so thought I would ask. Thanks |
